Does anyone use Philosophy 3 in 1 shower gels as shampoo??

I found myself out of shampoo in my shower and used the Philosophy 3in1 shower gel as shampoo and loved it. It is the Candy Cane scent that was in the set last Christmas. It is more of a creme than a gel but I am really shocked at how well my hair responded to it. I have shoulder length, naturally...well highlighted blonde, fine hair. I did not use any conditioner, only the Candy Cane shower gel. Just wondering if any of you girls use it for shampoo or am I just now realizing something that all of you already know.

I have used it before a time or two, not on a regular basis. My hair is so dry now I wouldn't be able to. Not conditioning enough.

Yes, all the time. It's convenient to keep just the 3-in-1 in the shower, and of course the scent is great. My fine straight hair does well with it.

No, I don't use them as shampoo. As much as they say you can I can't. They are VERY drying.

Hi sunflower87,

Glad you enjoy using it as a shampoo! I have very good results with using them as a shampoo Just to note, I have fine (color treated) hair.

The only exception would be the 'gelee' formulas of the 3-in-1 .... of course it cleans fine, but it doesn't make my hair feel as soft and manageable as I would like it to be.

However, the creamy and rich 3-in-1 formulas are AMAZING. Every time I shampoo with Caramel Drizzle, Butter Rum Cake, Living Grace, Orange Coconut, Lime Coconut, or any of the "ice cream" collection of 3-in-1 shower gels, I can't believe how soft, manageable and hydrated my hair is!

Just to explain, the "ice cream" collection of shower gels were a Auto Delivery series (32oz duo) on QVC a while back. They included Mango Tango Ice Cream, Tangerine Lime Ice Cream, Blackberry Lavendar Ice Cream, Vanilla Sour Cherry Ice Cream, French Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, etc. They were so thick and creamy, and smelled heavenly! They started showing up on Philosophy's website, TJ Maxx, and even Ulta over the next few years, so I was able to keep replenishing my stock. A good thing I did because my husband always reaches for it to shampoo with every single day LOL!

I used to shampoo with the Amazing Grace Shampoo before it was discontinued. It was an actual shampoo formula (not the regular 3-in-1 formula), and it was seriously the best shampoo ever, especially on my color treated hair (highlights and lowlights). My stylist always swore she couldn't believe the condition of my hair was so healthy after all those years of coloring. She always thought I was using those super expensive salon brands LOL.

I have used it as shampoo in a pinch but any prolonged use and it dries my scalp out like mad. I wish they would bring back the shampoo and conditioner scented in Amazing and Pure Grace. That conditioner was awesome!

I used to use the 3in1s regularly as shampoo, before I knew better. They are loaded with sulfates (as are most store-bought shampoos) so dry my hair and strip the color out. The best way to use them is for clarifying. Philosophy has an amazing sulfate free shampoo & conditioner called Shear Splendor. It's a HG product line for me.

I've used it in the past and stopped. It made my hair like straw. They are nuts when they say how ""Moisturizing"" it is.

I have tried a few as shampoos, but my hair has always felt like "straw" afterwards. I guess I need something more conditioning. The mint scented ones really left my hair feeling stripped.

Yes, in a pinch. My kids will often use it as shampoo, too. Although they typically like a separate shampoo & conditioner, too. I think it is just fine--at least for my hair--sometimes a bit more drying than I would like in a shampoo, but that's the only bad thing I can say about using it this way.

My 11 and 12 year old Granddaughters use it and love it. They have hair down their back. One has wavy hair and the other has straight hair.

As we all know teens and sub-teens are very choosy. Go figure. I buy it and had it coming out of my ears. I gave some to my daughter and she said, "They'll hate it" and guess what? They don't!

As many have stated above, I can only shampoo with it occasionally. If I try to shampoo with it regularly, it is too drying.

I started using it as shampoo and body wash but it was not helping my hair so I continued to use it but use shampoo and conditioner but I am happy it works for you. I wish they would make natural body washes but I am back into soaps now instead of body washes and I got Lady Primrose Royal Extract body wash that was $59.95 for I think $15 and I love it but I can't afford it. That shower was fabulous yesterday with that and it is a small glass bottle so I bet I won't get 10 showers out of it but it does not take much and I used too much but if you have the money buy it and try it..........it is luxury.

The boutique I go to and look at their 50-90% off had a bottle. They also had the powder and I bought that too........I can't use it with other fragrance but it is nice at bedtime.

Now that I'm paying attention...maybe some scents are more drying! I don't recall having a problem with AG or PG but I do notice my hair comes out dry from Wintergreen....
