Best mascara for thinning lashes?

I would appreciate any suggestions for the best mascara for thinning lashes. I saw a presentation recently on Tarte mascara, but some people said that it did not stay on well. Thanks for any help you can provide.

As a true mascara junkie i can tell you i have tried just about all of them. I probably have ten in my drawer right now that i go back and forth to.

My favs have always been lancome. Mainly defenicils though i have them all.

I also have Tarte, Eyeko, Make Forever, Chanel, Benefit,Bare minerals and Mally.

Let me just say i have long not as thick as they used to be lashes but pretty good for 60!

I have to say everytime i wear Tarte(more than the others i mentioned) i always get asked if my lashes are real or flat out get asked what lash treatment i use (like lattise)

As far as staying power it does have that. The only thing is if you get your face wet it will run

For me i like the easy removal as well as good for your lashes as i want to keep them for as long as i can!

drkchanger: Have you tried cake mascara? I remember trying some years (and years!) ago and I loved how it looked. NO clumping. I keep meaning to try some again.

I like how BLACK Lancome is. I might try the Tarte, though (which one gives you the false lashes syndrome?) I'm 60, too, and no problem with length (swipe up against my glasses sometimes) but could sure sure some beefing up volume-wise.

Didn't mean to hijack your thread, Writer with Flair, but wanted to get some advice from the junkie. :-)

By the way, years ago I used to LOVE Underwear for Lashes by Origins. I'd asked if she was wearing false lashes -- nope, just the underwear and some Origin mascars. It's a pre-coat like you see some mascaras come with these days. I've tried some of the combos, but didn't impress me as much as Origins did years ago. Might be worth a shot (and I'm heading to Origins NOW to order some before I forget AGAIN, been meaning to try it again for a long time).

If you want true thicker lashes, get to the root of the matter, no pun instead ! Put essential oils on your lashes after you cleanse your face and while you sleep at night to promote lash growth. Do this consistently every night for 4-12 weeks, and your lashes will strengthen and lengthen, then when you apply luscious mascara they will look much better. Also, never, ever sleep in mascara or eye makeup. Your lashes are in a pore, and they can't breathe at night if all clogged up.

You can use a mixture of lavender oil, castor oil, aloe vera, and fractured coconut oil in a small bottler with a roller ball and apply to your eyelashes, or you can just use extra virgin organic coconut oil and brush on your lashes nightly. Do not use much as this is an oil and will melt with your body temperature. You can gently rub it in if necessary.

After treatment for cancer, via radiation and chemotherapy and surgery, I became hypothyroid and bald, and my eyelashes almost disappeared completely. I saw on You Tube and Pinterest many recipes for this mixture to grow lashes so I tried it.

Now I'm doing it daily and my lashes are growing in longer and stronger than ever before. So are my eyebrows as I apply it there as well. What an amazing difference in just 6 weeks !!!! You must try it !!

65 here and i like l'oreal voluminous, for everyday and makeup for ever, for other times. MFE is at sephora and they have a small tube (12.00) to try.

i'm tempted to try rapidlash, from bed, bath and beyond or drugstore.com.

I have to agree with Renee, in that the oils are the best for keeping your lashes thick and healthy. I use rosehip seed oil every evening after washing my face and also on the mornings where I won't be going anywhere. I think it also helps prevent the crowsfeet.

My current favorite is Almay's Get Up and Grow mascara. My eyelashes have never looked better.

MarenSeattle, yes i do remember the cake mascara! I don,t know which one you used but i used to get mine at the local variety store as a teen.

I have to say i always got my compliments while using the lancome but now more so with the Tarte as it makes them look thicker.

My mom used to have the lenses on her glasses curved because of her lashes.

I work in retail(pet industry) and people ask me so much that it doesn,t even feel like a compliment anymore(not bragging) but its nice to know i still have them!

I do want to add that i have and have used a few others with the same results as tarte but very hard to remove without loosing lashes and i dont want that.

And as some mentioned the L'oreal Voluminous is a very close dupe to Lancome IMO as i used it when i couldn't afford the Lancome back in the day.

I've been watching this thread looking for a real mascara answer and here we have one. My lashes have always been shortish, but now they are getting lighter in color (from medium brown to lighter brown). And, they are thinning a bit as well, which I know occurs on my Dad's side of the family, so any mascara that's going to give me length and volume will be a hit with me. Thanks so much!

It would be good to have a conditioning mascara. Here are some suggestions:

Estee Lauder has one (can't remember the name)

Aveda Mosscara conditions lashes

almay color mascara (according to your eye color)

Perhaps you should talk to your dr. to see if there is any prescription product that help too. Good luck.

Thanks so much for all the great suggestions. I will start with the coconut oil on the lashes and look for a conditioning mascara as well. I'll let you know how it goes in another 4 weeks or so. Thanks again.

I suggest the use of a good eyelash primer prior to your mascara application. My absolute favorite is Dior Lash Serum. It nourishes your lashes and makes them look so much fuller when you apply mascara.

Get yourself Isomers lash protein, use it and your lashes will be so much better, fuller and longer. Then you can use any mascara! Isomers are avail on ShopHQ .

I've read on the boards that Tova's mascara is back.
