The first time that I used Wen I just ordered the cleansing conditioners. It is definitely a good place to start. The only products that you really need are the styling creme. Although, it is probably not required if you don't blow dry your hair. The oils and remoist are very nice for improving the condition of your hair but are definitely not required. I don't use any of the other styling products very often such as mousse, volumizing treatment spray, finishing creme, etc. and you don't really need these extra products. I wanted to try the mousse and bought the SHP duo when it was offered but I won't use it often and it will last me a while. Many Wenners do use all of the additional styling products but they are definitely not necessary. If you already use mousse or other products from a different line you should just continue to use them and try Wen when you need replacements. My guess is that some who use Wen use styling products from a different line that they like.

I don't use the styling products. I've tried all of them, some for many months, and none of them really did what I wanted. The mousse was the best, but still didn't offer enough frizz control for me. I went back to styling products designed for my hair type.

I do use the oils and Remoist, though.

If you use heat to style your hair, you should use a heat protectant, but there are hundreds (thousands?) of styling products with heat protection on the market and you do not need the WEN styling cream if you use another.

For me, I get overwhelmed if I try too many new things at once, so I did use only the CC for quite some time. Now I use the Styling Creme and Replenishing Treatment Mist religiously. I use the oil and remoist on occasion. Add as you wish but the CC are the place to start. Some use everything and others only use the CC's.

Definitely start with the CC and don't worry about anything else for awhile unless you need the Styling Cream for heat protection. The CC can even be used as a "treatment" if you cleanse your hair first and then add the CC to dripping wet hair and wrap it up for at least an hour. Overnight if you can. I think Remoist works even better, according to some, but this should hold you over as a treatment until you decide that you want to continue with the line. CC is the only "must have".

I personally love the VTS (Volumizing Treatment Spray) that I use as a root volumizer and as a hair spray. I'm a hard core hair spray user but I hate those aerosols, mainly because they make a mess in my bathroom. But I needed them for the hold. Since I discovered VTS I don't need those aerosols!! It has lots of hold. I also use Remoist, the oils, and the body wash and lotion. I think it is improving with Wen CC's, but I'm just wondering what other styling products may work for my frizzy hair!

I have wavy/curly hair, which is known to be a frizzy hair type despite Chaz Dean's claims that no one's hair is naturally frizzy, frizz is caused by shampoo. Here are some of my favorite products for keeping my hair frizz-free, even in 90% humidity:

Curl Keeper, by Curly Hair Solutions. I usually use this alone, but sometimes I'll scrunch some gel over it. It never leaves my hair crunchy.

Climate Control Gel or Curl Quencher Gel, by Ouidad. I used this for the first time on a trip to Corpus Christi, Texas. It was so humid that my glasses would steam up whenever I got out of my car or left an air conditioned building, day or night. I went out for lunch and a stranger complimented me on my curly hair and I became a Climate Control convert. Any crunchiness you can easily get rid of with a little scrunching when the hair finishes drying.

Ultra Defining Gel or ArcAngel Gel, by DevaCurl. Both great gels with little crunch that you scrunch away when the hair is dry.

Set it Free, by DevaCurl. This is for serious frizz control. It's heavier than the others, so it can weigh hair down a little. It has bees wax and olive oil and seals the hair to prevent water from getting in and causing frizz. It can lock frizz out for two days, but because it's heavy for my fine hair, I usually don't go two days without washing.

They're all meant for curly hair, but I'm sure you could also use them on straight hair.

Also, keep an old cotton t-shirt by the shower and use that to blot your hair dry instead of a terry towel. Because she shirt fabric is smooth and has no loops, it can't snag on the cuticle of the hair rough it up, which is what a towel can do and why we frizz-prone ladies often lose the frizz battle the moment we step out of the shower. Changing to a t-shirt made a big difference for me, even above the microfiber towel I had already switched to because they also prevent frizz.

Thanks! I've used Climate Control by Ouidad with okay results, but I'm not a huge fan of that brand. I tried using a couple of their shampoo & conditioners and hated them, they totally dried out my hair! So I have my own issue against that brand, even though a lot of people seem to like their products.

I am really curious about Devacurl, I've been wanting to try it for awhile now. And Curl Keeper sounds interesting.
