A question for Wen users please!

Does it take a long time to rinse out Wen? I am new to Wen and am finding it takes forever and I'm not getting the shiny hair I normally have. I have to wash every day and normally I can go every other day. Any suggestions? I am using the Fall Pumpkin. I love the concept and the scent!

Wen does take a lot of water. I've only been using it for about 8 months, now. But, I'm really noticing the difference. It does take a little patience and slight trial and error. But, stick with it and you will see the benefits, I believe.

tip #1) While you're new - allow extra time to wash your hair. Take time to really work it through and rinse it out.

tip #2) Rinse, Rinse, Rinse.

tip #3) Do a 2 step wash. I.E., wash , rinse, repeat! I think you get the best results this way. (Chaz also, advises this.)

Id think if you do these 3 main things you'll see a difference.

And to add to DrCEB, after you apply the cleansing conditioner make sure and add a big splash of water. I actually stick my head under the shower for a few seconds. Then work it in good. It should change consistency and become light and frothy. Really work it in and massage your scalp too! Adding the water also helps you rinse it out. Do that for both cleansings. I think that will help.

Make sure you are following the recommended amount for each cleanse. They suggest you separate the recommended amount in half so you have a first and second cleanse. The first is to get out styling product and oils, the second is conditioning. Thoroughly rinse after each. I'm wondering if maybe you are only using one cleanse with all of the recommended pumps, and that's why you are having trouble getting it all out? I made that mistake myself when I first started using Wen, that's why I'm mentioning it. I wash my hair everyday and alternate with regular shampoo, or sometimes use Wen as my conditioner. Very rarely is it all Wen. You'll find with trial and error what works best for you.

Yes Definitely make sure you rinse it complete out of your second cleanse! Follow up with a 1/2 pump leave-in, and your SC/VTM. Sometimes I put in a few drops of glossing serum to my wet hair before drying. If your hair has that "Dirty" feeling its because you're not using enough cleanser. That was something i had to really wrap my head around because usually with other conditioners the more you use the greasier your hair is… with wen its the opposite. more = better hair… Just make sure to rinse it thoroughly.

Guggenheim, welcome to the Wen forum and welcome to Wen!!! -- the advise above is really great advise and works for the vast majority of Wenners. But a small percentage of Wenners with thin/fine hair go a different route. I have thin/fine, shoulder length hair. I've been using Wen for around four years. I split the pumps between two cleanses. The first time I used Wen I used fourty pumps and it took ten minutes to wash it out of my hair. So over a period of three to four months I experimented with slowly using les and less Wen per washing. I even went down to using 2 total pumps from a 16oz CC bottle. That got my hair clean, but it would start getting dirty by the next day. Using a 16oz CC bottle, these days I use three pumps for my first cleanse and 3-4 pumps for my second cleanse. I apply Wen to my hair as though it were a hand lotion and massage it into my hair for one to two minutes for my first cleanse. I keep the second cleanse on my hair for 3-5 minutes and then massage it in for a minute before I wash it out. -- FYI this method only seems to work for Wenners who have thin/fine hair and not a lot of it. I have been using WEN for about 4 months now. I can tell you that the single most important thing I tried (because my hair was feeling weighed-down) was to ADD WATER while I was cleansing. And not just a splash - I cup both hands, let it fill with water, then throw it on my head. This made my CC frothier and easier to rinse out.

Yes make sure you rinse the cleanser out completely. You don't want to leave any cleanser in your hair because you need to rinse out all the product, dirt, and oil from your hair. Add some back as a leave in on your clean hair. The cleanse, rinse, repeat method works great because you are rinsing twice. I have been using Wen for over two years. There is a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, you will be so glad you did. I don't think I could ever go back to shampoo.

With all the 613 talk yesterday, I used 2 pumps Fig and 2 pumps 613, 1/2 pump each and fig oil for my leave in, SHP SC and mouse and 3 spritzed BGT VT to add volume at the roots (this didn't work on making halr but it's incredible on my new short hair). Once blown dried 1 drop SAM SS AND BGT VTM!!

If you're feeling like your hair does not feel clean they tell you make sure you apply enough product. Too little makes your hair feel waxy or weighed down. Of course this may not be the issue but I learned through asking things too. The scalp and hair must be saturated with cleansing conditioner or you won't get a proper cleanse. Being it's not like shampoo. Shampoo is different in that you only need a dime size and it suds's up like crazy and a bottle lasts forever because you only need a bit. Wen is different, the more you use, the better the results and the longer you leave it in the better too. I get it all creamed up where it's everywhere dropping in big drips after I really work up a massage cream. My scalp tingles, not that cold feeling but it feels like it's getting nice and clean and when I rinse it squeaks. It really rinse and comb and run my fingers through and it feels soft and hydrated and squeaky. My thinking is like the young lady on Wen 3. I'll never go back to shampoo, never, never, I'll be using Wen forever (in her native accent) she says and when you know that something is good for you, you spread the love. I got a kick out of that because I thought the same thing but not in those exact words. The girl with the long, dark hair, oh, Ms. Sanchez. I remember now. Anyway, after I blow dry my hair my scalp feels nice and airy and my hair feels so nice and light and bouncy. I hope you find your way. Don't give up, you'll get there.
