Mally Visible Skin, MAC Mineralize Skin Finish, Lancôme Dual Finish, Laura Geller Balance and Brighten, IT regular Celebration (NOT the Illuminating one), and from the drugstore (I actually have always purchased it at Sally Beauty Supply) Palladio Wet/Dry. The Palladio gets a 79% repurchase rating on Make Up Alley from 377 reviews, which is really good. As it is the lease expensive, that one might be a good one to try first. You can look at all the reviews of these foundations and others mentioned at makeupalley dot com.

I also use a couple of drops of oil before using powder foundation. I spray a two of sprays of a moisturizing toner into my hand, then 2 drops of argan oil, then use both hands to mix them together just a bit and then use that mixture on my hands to moisturise my face and neck. If it's really dry (my skin or in winter when everyone is blasting the heat) I might add moisturizer on top. Usually Laura Geller regular Spackle as primer is enough though, and I don't even need that when there's a decent humidity level.

You can make your own moisturizing toner, just mix 1 ounce of glycerin into 8-10 ounces of distilled or mineral water, and put it in a spray bottle. Shake before using. It works to get rid of the powdery look of some powder foundations or after setting powder over liquid or cream foundation. Also works as a refresher for your make up later in the day, just be careful of your mascara if you don't wear waterproof. I don't and I have never had a problem, but maybe I have just been lucky and it doesn't bother my mascaras. You could test it out at the end of the day when you are ready to take your makeup off.

CeeCee

My go to for covering up redness is MAC Studio Fix. I sort of like IT Celebration Foundation but it doesn't provide any coverage for me, so I can only use it on a red-free day. Or else I have to still use the Studio Fix with it.

I have combo/oily skin & need light coverage. I haven't found a powder/mineral foundation that works for me. They don't control my oil & they wear off patchy during the day or they break me out. Mac Studio Fix-great coverage, no oil control, breaks me out. Laura Geller Balance & Brighten-nice coverage, wears better than any others on my skin, but breaks me out if I wear it 2 or more days in a row. Just sent back the IT Celebration foundation. I had great hopes for it. I am so disappointed. No oil control & it got really patchy looking as it wore off, after just a couple of hours. I tried it several times, because I really wanted it to work. It didn't break me out. And now I was just looking at the tarte Clay foundation. Why do I keep trying? LOL

Pauala wrote in her first 2 books that it isn't the pressed powder or compact foundation that breaks you out but the bacteria and yeast growing on the sponge and or brush. If you keep your applicators clean, (and you should use applicators rather than your fingers which have a whole community of microbes on them even when you think they're clean) and you still react poorly to the product , check the ingredients. She gave a whole list of additives necessary to keep the powder together that are irritants , things a significant proportion of us are allergic to, or substances notorious for plugging your pores. Paraffins, mineral oil. funny plants are the main culprits.

One of the original Bare Escentuals' advantages was the lack of gluing agents and use of brushes they insist you clean periodically. Unfortunately, I can't use BE, turns green gay metal on dark skin. Refuse to use IMAN anything anymore because her lists of ingredients look like copies of Paula's don't use list. LANCOME and Clinique have colorblind chemists. That's why I was so thrilled with Mally's new color additions. and why I love her formulations. IT too has great ingredient list but no color for me. When they do I'll buy more than my share. So If either have your shade I recommend you use it, with the fabulous brushes. and keep the brushes immaculately clean.
