Disappointing Beauty Box

I wanted to try one of the beauty boxes available and got a Ipsy one which is $10. I have to say I was underwhelmed. It was 5 very small products that I never would have bought. I'm thinking of cancelling it already. Has anyone gotten a beauty box they like or are they all the same?

Oh yes. I discontinued the beauty test tubes (sold here at the Q as well as on their own site) because all the products were too dark for my skin tone.

i bought the ipsy one when it was called something else (cant even remember the name). i kept it up for 6 months and then i gave it up.....there were times that the only thing i liked were the bags. i wasnt impressed.

the only one i have really liked was the beauty tube that is sold on qvc and via their own site, but that one is a lot more expensive. it did have some nice full sized products though. i even gave that one up though, but they keep sending me emails now to join again and get 10 dollars off of my first tube.

I get Ipsy and Birch Box and am canceling both. Usually just one time samples, so decided to save myself $20.00 a month.

I tried a couple of the beauty subscriptions and cancelled. Seemed like the first box or two was good (to hook you?) and after that, really bad.

I just cancelled my subscription. They ask you to check off the reasons why you're cancelling. I wonder if they listen to the feedback? What a waste of money!

Someone posted about the Walmart Beauty Box on Sept 15 (scroll to the previous Beauty forum page). $5 with good sized samples. Sounds like a bargain.

I've tried a few boxes. The only two I've liked is Blush.com mystery box, for $24.99 a month. They're full sized products & you definitely get your moneys worth. However, the products can pile up. I ended up with a lot of full size items that I never used, so I cancelled. I'm now using Beauty DNA & LOVE it. You pay $25 a month & they match you with one product after you fill out a questionnaire. They rotate from skin, body care, hair care. So far I've liked every product they have sent & it cut down how much product I was buying. I got a well known expensive eye cream & serum for only $25. The serum was over $110. The cheaper sample boxes are blah & not worth it IMO.

I was going to say that the blush boxes looked really good but seagrl21 beat me to it! a bit more expensive than the others but appears to be worth it. I've also been happy with the two total beauty packages I got from hsn and I liked the QVC one, not the test tube, but the other for $20. it's nice to be able to try the products they carry without spending the full price and hsn even gives you a $10 coupon to use if you do want to purchase the full sized item

I like Ipsy. $10 & it includes shipping. The liner pencil alone retails at $10.99 at Target, the criminal powder $12.99 at Sephora. These two & the lipstick are full sizes plus a perfume for the purse & a hair masque for 4 uses, not to mention a really cute makeup bag. The value far exceeds anything you can purchase at qvc.

I do not like those really small sizes or the packets. The Q Tube has been one of the best. I pretty much gave up on others. The Q tube one time had a one oz jar of Hope in a Jar and it was the best summer moisturizer. Loved it. Also got to try some Ole Hendricksen. In general, the Q did a better job.

Samples don't thrill me in general unless I can use enough for a while to judge the product.

I tried Birch Box a few years ago and canceled after 2 deliveries. Nothing I actually wanted/needed and I tossed most of it. A black scrunchie??? I have a pixie hairdo.

I like sample sizes because we travel a lot and I keep a "go bag" packed and ready at all times.

I've seen YouTube videos on the e.l.f. boxes and they are all full-size makeup products, and lots of them. You might check that out.

I joined Ipsy this month & received my first bag. For $10 it's a deal! I received a full size lipstick, criminal powder & eye pencil. I also received 1 oz of hair restore & a lipstick size of fragrance. You can't even get one of these products at qvc & the $10 includes shipping.

Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment but I ordered another Beauty Box! I got an email from Allure offering $5.00 off the Sample Society Box. It sells for $15 plus tax. I figure for $10 I'll take another chance. It says you can cancel anytime. If this one isn't good than I'm done with the Beauty Boxes!

I like QVC's Beauty Test Tube, I want to be able to re-order the products I like. The problem now is they are repeating samples, so I just review each offering separately.

Thanks to whoever mentioned the Walmart Beauty Box! I received mine today and for $5 it was better than the Ipsy box I got for $15. Sure if your into prestige brands you won't like it, but I was very happy with it.

Yes Desi you are right I got it confused with another box I just ordered which is $15. I still think the Wal-Mart box was better than the Ipsy one.

Glad everyone enjoyed the Walmart box I posted about. You cannot beat 5 dollars( that covers the shipping the actual products are free). There were some full sized products and some samples but what a great deal it is.

If you only like prestige products you will not like it but I am an equal opportunity beauty purchaser. I love prestige but I also love drugstore brands as well. This is a great way to try some products you may not have thought about purchasing. You never know you may find a product you love that costs far less.

Jordan, that's okay, I mix stuff up constantly!

SAM, I think the Walmart box is totally worth it too. One thing though. Did anyone get a defective deodorant? Mine didn't rise when turned (and I use stick so I know how to do it). It eventually backed out from the bottom and now I can't use it at all, wanted to try it, too. Oh well, not the end of the world. Not sure when the next box will be here but can't wait.

I still get IPSY but cancelled Blush. Blush just sent stuff I'd never use, although it's a good deal if you do, and the last time was the last straw.
