I have been using Wen for five years...POM. I had a stash of seasonals and I though I would try them. I gave several a try, but they leave my hair feeling like a film is on it and it is flat. I thought I could no longer use Wen, so I went back to regular shampoo...bad idea. After three week my scalp was dry, itchy, and dandruff everywhere. I went back to Wen and pulled out a bottle of TT, the first cleansing made a big difference. Maybe I need to stick with POM and TT???

That sounds like a great idea!

I love TT. I'm glad they are working well for you.

Seasonals, for me, take too much experimentation. By the time I figure out how they work best for my hair, I'm 2/3 of the way through the bottle.

I tried WEN, and I thought, wow! This stuff is cool, it really works without bubbles and stinging my eyes if I wash my hair in a hurried shower. So one day, I thought to myself, "Gee? I wonder if I just used my regular conditioner and just skipped using any regular bubbling shampoo at all?" So I dug out one of my conditioners and washed my hair (not with WEN) but with the conditioner. I treated the regular conditioner as if it were shampoo. I put some on the ends, put some on top, rubbed and let my hair wash itself in pure conditioner. Then I thoroughly rinsed and WOW!!! It was great! So nice! So shiny! And healthy! No dry scalp! Fullness!

So I don't buy WEN any longer.

I hope you try it. Now I am sure some faithful WEN followers will come in and say "blah..blah…and it didn't work for me…blah blah…made my hair woof…blah blah blah…"

But try it, try it on a weekend. Just treat your conditioner as if it were shampoo, wash your hair top to bottom letting your locks bathe in the conditioner, rinse thoroughly, and you will see!"

In my opinion, of course.

ical, A lot of people have used conditioners to wash their hair instead of shampoo. Their is a difference between using a conditioner and a cleansing conditioner. If you use a conditioner to cleanse your hair, you will eventually have a build-up on your hair. If you don't want to use Wen you should try a cleansing conditioner instead. If you google cleansing conditioners you will get a variety of cleansing conditioners that you can try in various price ranges.

She is happy with it but I think her hair looks coated and weighed down. I guess its like anything else, it will work great for some and not for others.

OP, I love the seasonals but the core formulas are there for a reason. If those are what work, then stick with it. What you may find at some point is that your hair will change and start liking a different formula. Its happened several times now with me. SAM is now working like magic for me and I used to end up with a frizzy mess after using that one. Lav used to be my best formula and it now seems drying. If you have seasonals left that aren't working for you right now, put them aside and give them a try later.

Found my WEN answer, I use shampoo, then leave my FIG in for the rest of my shower, only for my hair, instead of rinsing it all out and adding some back in, I just don't quit rinse it out..then I use the SC on the ends, spritz a bit of VTS at the roots, and blow almost dry, not quit..best hair ever...but I have to say for me the FIG and SHP are the best combo I have found...

This way, my Wen is always at it's best!

ical, rinse out conditioners replace what shampoos remove from the hair.
OP, I'm glad you tried WEN again after finding out shampoo was too harsh on your hair and scalp. Tea tree is the best for your scalp. I don't use the seasonals, I always do my first cleanse with TT, then I use either fig or SAM. TT and POM should work for you fine. I've used WEN for over 8 years and never had to use shampoo to make WEN "work better".

Many folks with ethnic hair types have been doing this for years (including me, prior to WEN).

Co-washing is great and has many benefits, but I will agree with the other posters who stated that there is a difference between a Co-Wash and a Cleansing Conditioner,

With co-washing, there is eventually a build-up over time that will need to be removed. True cleansing conditioners will not create this build-up, and you can continue to use them without having to rotate a clarifying product into your routine.

I think I found the reason for my problems with the seasonals. My beautician said I was using them too often and the amino acids were causing my hair to be like it was. She told me protein overload and to use my core products and maybe the seasonals once a week. So far the TT has really restored my hair, so I will again try my seasonals, I have a lot! Thanks for all of your replies.

Sounds like you have the same problem that I do. I can only use the seasonals occasionally. My hair just doesn't need that much protein. I try to use them once or twice a week (or about every second or third cleanse).

My hair loves the core formulas, and Tea Tree is my absolute fave! I use it for my first cleanse every time, and fairly often for my second cleanse. If you have issues with flaking and/or an itchy scalp (like me) TT can be your best friend, lol.

Hope things continue to work well for you as you get your hair back on track!

Although I have oily scalp I need hydration for my hair and the seasonals give me that. I feel you must leave the cleansing conditioner in for at least three minutes and make sure enough is applied. The scalp and hair must be saturated in it and massage it in good. Work it into a thick cream and let it sit there and then rinse well. I then apply a quarter size leave in and one pump styling creme. My hair is so hydrated. I really did not like when my hair gets dry and crackly. I found the pear one is really nice and the Bamboo styling creme. I don't even use the mousse and gloss every day. I just use leave in and styling creme every day. I skip a day here and there but I don't feel comfortable unless I cleanse my head in the shower. Just my preference. Product application is key too. It's difficult to apply to your own head. I always thought if I could only detach my head and work on it and then re-attach it! I had to teach myself good ways of application which paid off too. Good luck!
