Can I Buy Demi-Permanent Haircolor at Drugstore?

I'm looking for drugstore boxed demi-permanent haircolor. I can't seem to find, does anyone know of a brand?

If so, please be specific.

There are tons of ammonia free hair color at the drug store. It will say ammonia free on the box. Try

Not the shade, but the brand. It is supposed to be very gentle. I use red, so those ammonia free ones are not great at dying such bright colors. There are tons of those with great oils added to them to be gentle!

I use a semi-permanent color by loreal that I like more than natural instincts. Its called healthy look creme gloss

I don't know about drug stores, but Amazon has lots of demi permanent items, Clairol etc.

Demi- and semi-permanent hair color are not the same thing. I've read about it on the Clairol pro website, but it's down right now. Here's what I found:

Semi-permanent hair color is good for first-time dyers or those who aren't looking to make a drastic change. Semi-permanent dye has no ammonia and no developer, so no color is deposited inside the hair shaft. Instead, the color coats the hair, which is why it's often referred to as a "stain" or "wash." Semi-permanent color is good for changing or enhancing tones -- but not for changing colors. It generally washes out in six to 12 shampoos.

Demi-permanent hair color results in a more obvious change for some who wants to avoid damage or anything drastic. It contains no ammonia but does have a small amount of peroxide, which opens the hair cuticle slightly so that some color will be absorbed. Demi-permanent does a better job of darkening hair than semi-permanent does, but it doesn't lighten hair. Demi-permanent hair color will fade and typically last 12 to 24 shampoos.

That product isn't demi-permanent, it says it's permanent right on the box.

Natural Instincts which is demi, uses 1-5 volume peroxide depending on which color it is. i looked this up a few years ago after they changed the formula. Which is why it can't appreciably lighten hair like permanent color which uses a higher volume of peroxide can.If you use the black color, it will be permanent though. Since I quit using shampoo, I don't get fade with Natural Instincts. Back when I was using shampoo I did get fade. The lighter shades do fade more I think though ( anything in the light brown to blonde range)

why not go to a beauty supply? I'm no expert but I have found that the associates that work there are always helpful and I haven't had any problems putting the pieces together myself and you save a lot of money. that is where I purchase the Loreal color gems, a demi permanent, that covers gray fabulously and the color lasts

Tough to find in a drugstore, but Sally Beauty Supply has tons of it in several different brands. Mostly Clairol I think.

You can get Wella, Age Beautiful, ION and L'Oreal demi-perm colors at Sally. If you can measure liquids in a cup or bottle and use a timer you don't need to go with boxed.

I use semi permanent hair color and liked Garnier Herbashine bamboo infused (or something like that) - they stopped making that formula although maybe you can find it on Amazon. I liked that formula better than Natural Instincts as the color looked richer and my hair shinier. But Natural Instincts is what I use now - medium brown, hazelnut #20. I too tried the Loreal healthy care - and actually prefer the formula over Natural Instincts because it makes my hair glossier but I just can't get the right color. The medium brown is just too dark and medium golden brown doesn't cover the gray well enough for me.
