You spray each section first, the roll, the spray all again when you are done with your set. You can always wipe them down with alcohol once a month or so if you find them too messy. I do this to remove product buildup from curling irons and flat irons as well.

I air dry my hair and the next day use hot rollers, flat irons, etc...

What I am looking for is a styling creme/lotion/etc., that I can use on my hair before using heated hair stylers.. Something that will give me extra hold and control fly-aways..

I have used heat protection such as CHI, but that doesn't give me the extra hold I need when I use hot rollers or the styling wands..

Thank you..

Spray each section of hair with firm hold hair spray before you roll it or flat iron it. I also use a bit of mousse and blast with the hair dryer to dryish before rolling. I put the mousse on right after I potty and before I do anything else in the morning so it is mostly air dry before I do my hair, which is last before clothes. If it is still too damp, I blast with the hair dryer and then style. Often I can just blast and go, but that is my cut.

When I use hot rollers, I use regular hair spray - after I have the rollers in. My hair is stick straight, so the strong hold is needed. Regular hair spray works really well.

I, too, air-dry overnight before flat ironing. To avoid frizz and fly aways, I apply my styling creams/heat protector to my wet hair. In the AM, I flat iron as usual, then apply a glossing serum or oil for shine. I don't use hair spray, so I can't speak to that.

Doesn't the hair spray ruin your rollers though? It probably gets all over the outer rim doesn't it??

I guess it does get on the outer edge of the rollers but its never bothered me.

I wash my hair at night, and while it is wet, I use Alterna CC styling cream or WEN styling cream or Living Proof PHD. I comb it through my hair and let it air dry. Then I pull it up in a doubled stretchy hairband into a ponytail/bun.

The next day, I use my hot rollers and I get great results. I only have to wash it every other night.
