I don't understand how using too much CC could be causing you to tangle. I can't comb or finger-comb through my hair unless my hair is saturated and I have used enough. I use closer to 4 pumps from the 32oz bottle for my leave-in. I use Fig, though, which is very moisturizing...and I mix in some WEN oil as well.

Hi, just took two showers ( hair was a tangled mess after the first one) which means an hour in the shower. I have long (bra strap length) fine very straight hair that is prone to tangles. I went through the whole process (25 pumps plus 2 for leave in) and rinsed with the massage head on. I combed through but hair was a tangled mess. I left the hair really wet when I put in the leave in part. Should I be able to easily comb through my hair while in the shower at the end? I figured that if I have to use 25 to 30 pumps each wash only 2 times a week my 32 oz bottle will only last 7 weeks. I will never make it 3 months. Please give me advice. Thanks in advanced

We have similar hair. I'm not sure what you mean by "rinsed with the massage head on" - maybe you mean the shower setting? I just use the regular shower setting. It might not sound like a big deal, but are you using a WEN comb? Also, you should use the wide teeth and comb through your hair while the cleansing conditioner is on it. It will help to distribute the cleansing conditioner, but then it will also help to get the cleansing conditioner removed during the rinsing process.

I had similar hair until this past winter (when I switched to a ""lob"") and never had tangled hair with any WEN. 25 pumps sounds like a super lot. I don't remember using that much. Do you have a swirly massage shower head? Mine's just a rain head.

I put my WEN on and massage then comb through hair to distribute through to ends and remove any tangles. Repeat. Then rinse really well by letting water just run on and through hair. I don't really touch my hair with my hands too much. Then I add a very small amount of leave in and comb through again.

The shower head setting was the massage because I thought it would help me rinse it better. I used a wide tooth detangle comb to distribute the Wen through my hair before waiting the 5 mins for it to sit in the hair.

You might be using a few too many pumps for the 32 oz bottle, especially if you have fine hair. Make sure to use half of the number of pumps recommended for your hair for the first cleanse, rinse out then use the other half in your hair, and make sure to add a splash of water to help it emulsify and distribute evenly, then comb through. While rinsing, use regular water pressure, don't tangle up your hair or scrub it out, just let the water rinse it out thoroughly, and then use your leave in on soaking wet hair. This process should help detangle, not tangle. I have tangle prone hair too so I understand how easily it can get tangled. The TSV product page had a short video telling how much to use for your hair type/length, you might want to check that out. Or call the customer service number on the bottle and they can help you too, in case you need more help than you're finding here. Good luck!

Ok---here is my suggestion.

I started with WEN's SAM. Hated it. Then I tried lavender---hated it. Same with most of the core items. Tangled mess. Then I tried the Fall Ginger Pumpkin mixed with some 613---half and half. Massaged it on VERY wet hair, left it in for two minutes while showering. RINSED WELL---very well. I did NOT cleanse twice. I did NOT use a pump as leave in, but I did use one small pump of the fig (hate the smell, love the results) styling cream. MAGIC!!! Great results. Also loved the Winter Vanilla Mint/613 mix. Also loved the Summer Honey Peach.

My hair is in great condition and very bouncy.

I think you just have to find the right one for your hair...if you have the patience and friends who are willing to share...

Also---remember that the number of pumps varies with the size of the bottle of the CC. Be sure to use enough, and know that you do NOT necessarily have to do a second cleanse or a leave in pump...

I would suggest trying Fig and 613, if you haven't already. I also have fine, dry hair that is tangle prone as well (prior to using Wen I could barely get a comb or brush through my hair it was so bad). The core CC's I use are Fig, TT & SAM (I don't need to use all these, but like variety) and I use 613 as sort of a booster because my hair is dry and likes protein. I usually add about 3 or 4 pumps of 613 (613 on its own is too much for my hair, but mixed is perfect) to whatever core CC I am using and a comb will just glide thru my hair. It took me a while to find this perfect combination, but the results are worth it. No frizz or flyaways for me either, just smooth hair. I also use the SC and GS as well to give my hair extra shine and protect from heat styling.

On 9/4/2014 teach6691 said: It was tangled when I first washed and combed through to distribute the wen and still tangled during second go around including when I got out of the shower. That is why I got back in the shower to do it all over again. The last round it was still tangled but only from the ears down.

It's possible your hair doesn't like that formula. If you have followed all the normal rules on massaging the CC into and combing longer hair then it's probably the formula. POM makes my hair feel tangly and rough. Different peoples hair likes different formulas of Wen. I don't have hair like yours so I can't recommend one.

I also think that 2 pumps of CC out of the 32 oz bottle for leave in is a lot for your hair type and length.

I have several thoughts about this. It sounds like you're using more than you might need and I wonder if you're adding a splash of water when you add the WEN.

I have hair the same length and use a 32-ounce bottle. I usually use 8-10 pumps for my first cleanse and 6-8 for the second. I add some to my length first, then add to my scalp in sections. Once it's all in, I quickly move my head under the shower for a split second and add some water, then massage into my scalp. Adding water really helps prevent it from tangling up. Afterward, I rinse and then add my 6-8 pump second cleanse. That I usually don't massage in too much, I add it to my hair and scalp and rake it through from the bottom and work my way up to the top, detangling as I go. Then I clip it up and leave it in for the duration of my shower.

When I'm ready to rinse, I use the regular shower setting and get directly under the stream, raking my fingers and detangling again as I go.

When I finish rinsing, I add one pump from a 16-oz bottle as my leave-in. I think that if I used 2 pumps from the 32-oz bottle, I'd get tangled, too. Try using 1/2 pump from the 32-oz. I like to add 4 drops of oil to my leave-in and then rake that through my length and then my crown. After that I apply my styling products and use a t-shirt to blot dry. I leave my hair to air dry.

I hope that helps.

Many good suggestions by everyone. I agree that you may being using the wrong formula for your hair. If you haven't already, you should go to the Chaz Dean site and try the recommender.
