Great thread! I have been wondering the same thing. I only use the VTS as a hair spray. I have never noticed any drying, but I only use it occasionally.

I have used WEN for about 5 years now and love, love, love the results. I decided to get the TSV in BGT. I just realized that it comes with the VTM. I thought it was the RTM. I have read that some people find the VTM to be drying.

I would love some thoughts on this from people who use it. I have very thick but fine hair. It is shoulder length and has a natural curve, wave. I use Pom CC and most of the seasonals.

                  TIA

It can be drying for me, but only if I use too much. This stuff is potent, so start off with less than you think you'll need, then adjust from there. I really like it, and use it all of the time.

Then, I spray about the same about into the palm of my hand, rub my hands together and use my fingertips to apply directly to my roots (bending over at the waist to do this). Mixing with the SC gives me all over volume and applying to the roots gives the perfect amount of lift there.

I just tried it for the first time. Unfortunately, I think I used too much. I did about four sprays on my roots, and two on the length of my hair. After blow drying, I don't notice any extra lift at my roots, and it feels weird, like there's too much product. I hope I have better results next time. The ends feel fine, so I just think four sprays at the roots was too much.

It can be like the other poster said. It can be used as a hair spray for hold but you can use it wet like Chaz showed us, I mean when he sprayed it into his hand which already had one pump of styling creme in it and mix them on wet hair. I think for body use less, for hold use more.

I used it only as a hair spray for years until this last visit and now I've been incorporating it into my wet hair in the shower and as part of the final touch after drying (mixing it with FC, GS and VTS) and I don't find it drying at all.

I think I've only used the Lavender. I haven't tried the other scents yet.

I'm glad this was started. I now love the hold I get with the VTS. I have not used hair spray in a while because I can't stand the smell of all those chemicals. I'm glad this provides hold with a pleasant scent and no flaking later.

I did not know you could use the VTS as a hair spray! I had tried some a while back and used it on my wet hair and it left it very heavy feeling, so was hesitant to try it again with my new kit in the BGT. But I will definitely try it as a finishing spray. Thanks! I did try the leave in conditioner treatment that came with the kit and was very happy with it. My hair felt wonderful. Great kit and love BGT.

I did 1/2 pump SC with 6 sprays VTS mixed in and put from crown to ears and concentrated on the roots on soaking wet hair. I experimented today and did 5 pumps mousse and 6 sprays VTS and not nearly as stellar. I thought having any of the SC anywhere other than my ponytail section would be too heavy, but boy was I wrong

I've posted this before, but...try watering your VTS down by half. I do this, and still get great results. I mostly use it as hairspray, but sometimes mix in with my styling creme, too.

It helps you not use too much, plus you end up with 2 bottles for the price of one!

I just used it for the first time yesterday. I've used Alterna Bamboo volumizing spray and it goes on like water and doesn't feel drying. But the WEN VTM seemed stickier to me, and seemed to have more of a "firm" hold in places whereas the Alterna just gives me volume. I thought the Wen felt drying and made my hair feel a little tangled (I sprayed it onto my wet roots before blowdrying, and fingers got caught as I was blowdrying my hair.) I will use it as a hairpspray - to give it a little hold - but will use my Alterna Bamboo spray for bouncy volume. I have fine straight hair but a lot of it.
