Highlights for Brunette

I have dark brown hair, I am "cool toned", I look best in silver rather than gold, white rather than off white. However my eyes are green blue with a tiny bit of gold and my eye makeup colors look better in warm tones. So I'm confused reading about highlights some articles say match your skin tone, others say if you have both warm and cool features to go with eye color. Do I chose warm or cool tone highlights? I plan on asking my hairstylist but I think I'd trust my BB friends more! Any advise?

Yes, IMO, the silver or whitish blonde highlights on brown hair can be aging. A nice caramel color might be nice!

Light brown and medium brown for highlights.

To make sure they don't 'pull' red and/or brassy, the shades should have "ash" or "cool" in their name.

I agree. Carmel is the way to go, especially for dark brown hair. That is, if you want subtle rather than striking.
