Nothing positive to say about Argan Oil in and of itself. It may be beneficial when added to other things , i.e. shampoo, but as a skin product alone I don't care for it at all. There are some serums out there such as Dr. Denese' face serum that i do like, but AO is just not my thing. Nor do I think it's a discover of Josie's. I've found it for years in other products.

i LOVE Argan Oil and do AND have used it for a LONG while now....... question AND opinion please -

Do you think that Argan Oil is primarily for Hydrating & Moisture?

OR

Do you think it helps with lines, wrinkles, texture, tone, firming, brightness?

I know when skin is moist & hydrated it does plump the skin making it look smoother, less lined ETC....... BUT other than JUST hydrating & moisturizing does it really help with lines, wrinkles, firming, tone, texture

...... like a product that has Peptides, Stem Cells, Vitamin C, A - ETC...... that REALLY address and have accumulative benefits & help to reverse ALL of the signs of aging

This is the third post in a row I've mentioned this. I had a horrible reaction to Josie Maran's argon oil - it made my whole face break out almost instantly. I have never had a problem in my whole life with skin eruptions of any kind, even as a teen, so I have to think it was the argon oil that caused it.

That being said, there is no product on earth that gets rid of wrinkles. They might plump your skin up and reduce the look or wrinkles or big pores, but the effect doesn't last and it isn't cumulative.

AHA, BHA's also

I think once someone has HANGING skin - SUPER slackened skin.... DEEP DEEP line forget the creams & serum - ........ I mean, they will help ??? to a certain extent ??? maybe -

I think if you have superficial lines across your forehead, smile lines ETC...... hyperpigmentation ..... texture is rough, bumpy ..... things like that can DEFINATELY be reversed, helped, changed ......

The only product that can help reduce the signs of lines is Retin A. No OTC product can do that even though many claim to do so. However, by keeping the skin hydrated that can help to plump the skin and give a more youthful appearance. Two weeks ago I purchased the JM TSV and love it! My skin feels very soft and smooth. For may age I don't have many lines but I do have some above my jaw but below my cheek. Nothing is helping that to go away.

From what I understand, nothing can say it works on wrinkles unless it's a retinol product, which has been proven to work. However, I DO believe that argan (and other oils) can work to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and certainly aid in adding moisture to parched skin. Which might help plump up the skin a bit and add some much needed hydration to dry areas and wrinkles. Just my opinion, of course. But I DO believe that those that are dryer tend to look older (my skin is dry).

I love JM's argon oil. I like the Light and regular versions. I use pretty much every day, depending upon what my skin might be needing.

I am in my early 50s and don't yet have a lot of lines...so I can't comment on the effectiveness of Argan oil in reversing/reducing those signs of aging. But I have lots of experience with cranky, sensitive skin. Too oily in my younger days, combo skin today. Josie's argan milk and oil have helped to balance my skin beautifully (I've been using the oil for over a year now and started with the milk when it hit the market). I now consider my skin make up optional. I'm playing with the tinted moisturizer from the TSV as a new addition to my skin care.

I use her Argon Oil everyday. In fact I just ordered more from her website, which was less expensive than QVC. I only put it on in the morning after washing my face. I follow with Dr. Denese SPF day cream. For me it gives me a a nice layer of hydration and moisture. Can't really say that any fine lines have disappeared as I don't have many of those yet. The day cream and makeup go on so much smoother if I use the Argon Oil first.

I don't think AO is going to have the impact of skincare product with peptides, neuropeptides, EGF's, Vit C, retinols or RA, etc., etc. nor have I heard anyone who sells or promotes it really make those kind of claims. The French woman that Josie often mentions may have had great genetics that might have been aided by using AO for years and years. She certainly was diligent in keeping her skin very well hydrated which I personally think really benefitted her skin. Not sure anyone has done long term studies on AO (or other popular oils now) to really know their impact on the skin related to aging/anti-aging.

Josie has never made or implied a single claim to have discovered AO. She always relates the story of meeting that Frenchwoman who had been using it for many years. What Josie did do was really bring attention to it and after bringing hers to the marketplace, not only did AO become a huge success but it opened the door for a multitude of many other oils. Oils in general have become a huge part of skincare in recent years.

According to many derms, the 2nd leading cause of aging of the skin (sun and environment being #1) is lack of hydration. Many women became so reluctant to use creams or really most anything that hydrated the skin because they were so sure it would antagonize or cause breakouts. Fortunately, through awareness and education, many are now realizing how critical hydration is to anti-aging as well as overall necessary skincare, regardless of skin type (oily, combo, etc.)

I started using moisturizers when I was around 13 years old because I had dry skin. I started using a serum by the time I was in my early 20's. I also abused my skin in the sun, more in my 30's and 40's than even when young. My sister has always told me that because I started using really good creams, serums and other moisturizing products so young that she felt that accounted for why my skin didn't show the typical sun damage as others in my age range did. She was the opposite in that she avoided moisturizers and the like due to all the issues she had to deal with from oily skin. (She is younger by a few years and I think it honestly bugged her just a bit that my skin held up as well as it did, in spite of my sun (and tanning beds) abuse. She, on the other hand, really did not abuse her skin in the sun.

The other benefit from oils is that they tend to push other skincare we apply further down into the skin which is a great benefit.

wrinkles occur when the layer under the skin breaks down from the lifetime effects of gravity. There is NO PRODUCT you can put on the skin that will make this not happen nor reverse it.
