No, but ever since a discussion a couple of weeks ago, that included facial steaming, I've been thinking about it off and on. If I ever decide to delve into steaming, though, I'd go with an inexpensive Conair.

If you're committed to getting the Dr. Gross style, there's one on drugstore dot com by Lashem for less money, and you'll get free shipping.

Now you've got me thinking about getting another one. :-)

I haven't watched the Dr. Gross presentation -- does he mention why his is more of a nozzle instead of a full face?

No. However, when I've had professional facials, the nozzle type was used. That makes sense, because the client is laying down and the steam comes out of the nozzle/wand and is directed downward with a little "give" to make directional adjustments. I don't know for sure, if the nozzle can be removed and handheld for use if the person is sitting upright. The full face just seems easier to me, for personal home use, because you just stick your mug right in the opening and there's little room for error.

I looked very carefully at the one from Walmart and ordered it. I examined it closely, incuding the info. on the box and also went to the manuf. web site. I am convinced that Lashem's, Dr. Gross's etc. all come from the same originator and produce the same small particles of ionic steam which is the key. Walmart had free shipping and was the lowest price anywhere. Thank you for finding the one at Walmart.com. (This same brand sells for $100 other placs.)

I read from one reviewer that if you want the steam to clean out your nasal passages, the cheap Conair is fine, but that it's ionic steam that makes nano particles that are 4,000 times smaller than with regular steam. Regular steam will just condense on the surface and drip off whereas the ionic particles will penetrate more deeply to flush out the junk. That's the whole purpose of facial steaming, in the first place, right?

You'll have to let us know about the actual operation of the machine, the adjustability to get the steam directed where you want it, if you can safely add oils or herbs, etc.

Steamers are great! When I was a teenager and getting a zit, my mom told me to boil some water, get a towel and put my face over the steam that was rising. The zit opened on it's own and was barely visible by morning. They are also fantastic if you have a cold or sinus infection.

I received it today. I think they are all made by the same company. The one from "Walmart" which was actually sent from another company in AZ, is very sturdy and worked as soon as I turned it on. (The box says for professional use only.) It has both the on and off button and the ozone button and the hole is there for essential oils. It has another tubular attachment also that for the life of me I cannot figure out what it's for, but it may be for alternative steam. (other than the tiny ionic particles.) I already had it steaming just to check it out. I just have to figure out where it my house to keep it and use it.

It's fabulous! I can't believe I never knew about this beauty secret before. (For home use that is.) My skin was much better prepared for make-up today. It is cleaner (without the scrubbing from a special tool) and has a nice, natural glow. It is very relaxing to use. High quality, low price relative to it's competitors. I sat at my kitchen island to use it. I also sat on the couch with a counter stool next to me. My only issue is figuring out where to store it and where to use it so that I'm consistent. (And not have it sit in my closet unused like the LightStim.) Dr. Gross is absolutely correct about the micro steam or ionic steam. This is not the same steam that we get from the shower. I think many people are selling the same exact steamer and private labeling it. (Thus the variation in price...just look carefully at the pictures, there are a few companies selling identical steamers.)

Hi JeanLouise, It's too soon to say that I have an official routine. I used it this morning after I took a shower and before make-up. There is plenty of steam to stay on for as long as 30 minutes but I used it for no more than 15. Today is a lazy day at home so I didn't have to be that organized. On days I'm rushing out the door, I will still do it after my shower, pat my face dry after the steam and probably close the pores with a splash of cold water. Maybe some days I'll use it at night before doing evening skin care routine. Some people only use it twice a week. Please post if you get it and let us know your results. This costs less than so many skin care products I talk myself into buying. The majority of what I use is Isomers. (ten years.) I cheat a little with a few other brands.

Several years ago my ENT recommended facial steaming to get more moisture into my throat. I suffered from laryngitis and my vocal cords were really affected. After using that steamer I did notice good effects on my skin and kept it up today. Mine was from Walgreens for under $20. Still is working fine today. Ten minutes and I feel renewed.
