Hair loss due to lupus and Hair Max?

I know that this is designed for hereditary hair loss, but was wondering if anyone with hair loss due to lupus (or other conditions) have tried it.

Have you tried Nioxin? It really works. It's the only thing that FDA says does work.

Hi, Annabellethecat! No, I've not tried Nioxin. Do you use it? If so, do you see a difference? Right now, you can see my scalp in several areas. I use hair fibers to hide it. They work, but they are messy. Thank you for the recommendation!

I lost a lot of my hair due to a medication I was taking for autoimmune disease. Once I stopped the medication I used Nioxin and my hair has grown back. There are different systems based on your type of hair. I think their website has a quiz you can take to help you determine which system you need.

I forgot to add, Nioxin also has a product called Diamax that you apply directly to your scalp at night which helps aid in the regrowth of hair and thickens current hair.

I just want to say that I have Rheumatoid arthritis and medication made me lose hair because of medication but then (after a month) the hair loss stopped. I don't know what medications you take but the ones I take are very strong and suppress my immune system so I am more susceptible to infections. I hope you find a product that works for you.

Nioxin isn't the product approved by the FDA for hair loss--Minoxidil (Rogaine) is approved by the FDA--2% for women; 5% for men, but a lot of women use the 5% version.

I also have an auto immune disorder and when it flares the medications I take for it cause hair loss.

I was using Nick Chavez Hair Strengthening Mist for fallout. OMG, this was such a blessing! You could see the difference in my comb and in the shower.

It is discontinued but you can still find it in a spray bottle on Amazon/ebay.

I have Sjogren's syndrome; my derm recommended Minoxidil. 2% didn't help but 5% did. If you see a derm for your lupus I would ask. I must have gone into remission because my hair started coming in very thick and my nails are stronger than they've ever been in my life.

Good luck; lupus is a tough disease.

Thanks for all the responses! I will look into my options. I've had Lupus and Sjogren's Syndrome for many years, but have not had a real problem with thinning hair until the last few years. I don't currently see a dermatologist, but will definitely speak to my rheumatologist about the issue. Once again, thanks for taking the time to respond!
