The good news is you can try samples for free. A little goes a long way, so the samples will give your skin a real test drive. Just go to any La Mer counter near you and ask for samples. The sales reps will be more than happy to do that. Make sure they show you how to apply the cream by rubbing between your fingers first. Creme de la Mer original is not applied like any other moisturizer. Hope it works for your dry, irritated skin as well as it has worked for so many of us, for many years.

I know there was a discussion about this some time back. I want to get down to one products, I have dry, red sensitive skin and am not happy with anything I've used i the last year (Estee Lauder Verite, Bobbi Brown, Kate Somerville) I see La Mer came out with a soft cream version also and I want to purchase either the original or the soft cream. Has anyone used either that can help me. I am 64 years old. Thanks in advance.

I use the original cream - but just in the winter.

I have had the most success first applying Argan Milk, then the cream (which seals in the moisture from the argan product.)

It's pricey, but it lasts forever...a little goes a long way!

I have used the original cream for 15-20 years, started around the time I turned 30. It is wonderful. I too have dry and sensitive skin and I have never found a better moisturizer. It keeps my skin line-free, never irritates, and gives me a dewy glow. Even though its pricey, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I did try a sample of the soft cream back in the spring and did not like it as much. I thought it would be better for warm weather but it wasn't moisturizing enough for me and my skin felt dry after a few days of trying it. So I will stick with the original cream, I just use a smaller amount of it in the warmer months. Hope that helps.

Dry, sensitive skin here too. I use the original cream. Does not irritate skin and moisturizes enough for me. Last summer I decided to try the soft cream for the warmer weather. I did use the whole jar but my skin just didn't feel moisturized enough for me. So I use the original cream year round.

Dry/combo (depends on seasons) and very reactive/.sensitive skin. Love La Mer original! Lasts a long time and you don't need a lot. Naysayers here complain about the price ($$$), yet they don't buy it or use it, just bellyache to those of us here that do use it and love it. I ignore them most of the time.

I have extremely sensitive skin with rosacea, and my skin tends to be combo/oily. I have used both the original and the soft cream. I prefer the soft cream because the original is too emollient for me and leaves my skin greasy. However, since your skin is dry, it might be perfect for you. If you have a store near you that sells LaMer, it would be worth a trip in. I went to the LaMer counter in Nieman Marcus and the SA gave me tons of samples to try before I purchased.

I'm also very interested to try ASDM as these alternative lines are excellent from an ingredient perspective, results and price points. No high investments in corporate structure/staff, fancy packaging, advertising or distribution via Neiman-Marcus or other major retailers. These are the biggest reasons for the high price points of La Mer and other similar lines. I recommend that you try ASDM, Isomers or Skinn-or a combination of these lines. Great products. Great values. Great results.

I have been in the cosmetics industry for over 21 years. I have been using crème la mer for over 13 years and I have see a huge difference in my skin. I have very normal to dry sensitive skin and I am able to use crème la mer with no problem. I'm in my 40's and am told my skin looks really good. I do credit crème la mer for helping my skin look hydrated, dewy and healthy. It is very expensive so I only use a small amount. I won't be without it I only wish that I worked for them hope this helps you. go by and ask them for a sample of the original crème and the soft cream you will love.
