I absolutely LOVED the Lumene cleansing oil..........so of course they discontinued it! Does anyone know of a good drugstore brand oil? I will not pay high prices for a cleansing oil., i.e., DHC, expensive department store brands, etc. There must be another good drugstore brand other than Lumene. Thanks ladies!

The only drugstore cleansing oil I can think of if Garnier, but it isn't that great. It's thin and watery and didn't remove my makeup.

I've been using a Tatcha-similar cleansing oil, Dr. Young's Camellia cleansing oil purchased on Amazon, but it's $30-something.

There is a drugstore brand called Eclos that is much less expensive and I know they have a cleansing oil.

I use jojoba oil. I get mine at the Health Food store, and in the winter, I also use it on my sensitive skin. I LOVE the Tatcha, but can't justify the cost. May check out the Eclos from Ulta.

Does it have to be an oil? You might want to try a cleansing balm, which are oil-based and liquefy as you massage them into your skin. My favorites are the Boots Botanics Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm, which is under $9 at Target, and the Albolene balm, which comes in a huge tub for $11-15, depending on where you get it. It's available in drugstores, Walmart, Target, etc.

They feel the same as an oil, are as effective as oils, but are less messy and don't drip down my hand while I'm trying to get them on my face.

On 8/6/2014 kcladyz said:
I never heard of a cleansing oil

KC ....... if you put cleansing oils in the search box here under beauty, it will pull up more threads on cleansing oils than you will even want to read. QVC sells Tatcha's CO and you could always check their product page and video for general information. Tatcha makes a great cleansing oil but pricey so I only suggested checking that product page for possible videos and overall knowledge.

There are lots of brands, at all price points now, and essentially they work like this: Pour the oil onto dry palms and then spread over your dry face (everything has to be dry for it to work properly) Massage it all over, including eye area to remove eye m/u, then add a little water to your skin so the oil will emulsify into a milky consistency. Not all oils get milky but adding water assists with removal. You can then either rinse it off or use a washcloth or small face sponges.

Oil Cleansers work well for all skin types and really do remove dirt, grime, layers of makeup (incl all eye makeup), etc in a breeze. I couldn't imagine using any other type of cleansers on my face now. Oily skin does well too as oil attracts oil so it really helps remove oily residue once a little water is added.

Oil cleansers are not just any regular oil but rather a formula comprised primarily from oils and other ingredients that easily rinse off with plain water (or a wet cloth, sponge, etc.) A regular oil that you would use for moisturizing will not rinse off easily as they are not cleansing oils. There is a hugh difference in the ease of cleansing between just a typical oil versus a cleansing oil with different residues left on the skin. While some might prefer using a straight pure oil, they don't dissolve readily with water so it will require a little more effort to get all the oil off. I would also not recommend those with oily skin to use just a regular oil versus a cleansing oil as they very well may leave too much of an oily residue. Cleansing oils rinse off completely clean with no oily residues whatsoever.

I love using them as they leave the skin soft and usually moist (tho some brands can be more drying once off) They also make all m/u removal a breeze with minimal effort, including all eye makeup.

Am surprised you are not familiar with them as they have become very, very popular and there have been loads of threads about them here on the BB.

Check them out and see what you think~
