Paula's Choice vs. Skinn

I'm doing some research for a friend who, unlike me, wants to buy all her skincare from one line. She's interested in both Paula's Choice and Skinn. Of course she doesn't want to have to buy a gazillion products, but will do more than cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize.

She lives here in Scottsdale, AZ so a dry climate, in her mid-50s with normal to dry, light-complexion skin. A few wrinkles on forehead and near eyes, no sensitivity.

She used to do dental assisting for me, was my matron of honor to my failed marriage and like a sister to me.....and even in this day and age "doesn't do computers".

I figure both the brands are mentioned here a lot so I get to do her research.

Since she has expressed interest in these two lines, she has obviously had had some exposure to them both, even if it's just hearing about them online. It would be ideal if she could look into both lines herself. She must be the expert in terms of what she's looking for in skin care.

They are very, very different from each other.

Her exposure was me. She's asked what I use, but has no interest in buying from various sources. I suggested these brands since they're mentioned here all the time. I'm doing the online research and she's calling the companies to see if catalogs are available.

I know that Paula's Choice has excellent customer service and they do have a catalog. I would give her their number and let her call. They may even send her some samples if she tells them what type skin she has and what issues she is wanting to address.

Thanks! I hope that's what happens. She spends a ton on her hair & nails, but complains her bar of Ivory soap isn't doing the trick. An esthetician at her hair place gave her a 2-page list of "core products" she would need and freaked the poor thing.

I would suggest Paula's Choice - because she can start with samples of each product and actually give the entire suite of products she would use a test drive before she invests.

They do also have great customer service and their catalog lately has been coming with a booklet of beauty myths.

I use Cerave cleanser and PTR laser free gel on my lips but otherwise I use all Paula's choice (and it has been really good for me)

It is also an affordable line compared to many out there (I know skinn is too).

Good luck to you both! Maybe you can invite her over and do some online shopping together.

For someone who's a medical/dental whiz she is so intimidated by the computer. She says things like, "The computer said she sent me a letter.", which means her daughter sent her an email. She's a kook, but I gotta love her.

I've tried both & love Paula's Choice. As others have said you can get samples. I bought a bunch of Skinn products as everyone raved about them. I was very disappointed with them. Paula's Choice website helped me choose the products that were right for me.

I ordered 3 sets of the Resist samples. Two for her and one for me. I'm happy with my current routine, but there's always room for improvement......or am I just never satisfied?

Paula's Choice also has a great return policy. I love her products. I use the serum and C15 booster in the Resist line and love them. I also use several other products from PC.

FYI I've been researching and on the fence about both of these lines myself. I am 36 and after emailing CS they have recommended the Skin Balancing line for my combination skin (oily forehead, dry elsewhere). AND..announced today there is a deal for $15 off orders of $75+ with free shipping for all orders $50+ so thinking I may be ordering a starter kit sometime this week!

Skin Balancing Oil-Reducing Cleanser (AM..will use Dr Young Camillia Cleansing Oil PM)
Skin Balancing Pore-Reducing Toner (AM/PM)
Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment 2% BHA (AM/PM)
Skin Balancing Invisible Finish Moisture Gel (AM)
Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Serum (PM..will use Mad Hippie Vit C Serum AM)
Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer (PM)

And will use my Skinn Orchid Matte Gel as primer. Whew! But I was in desperate need of a real skincare routine. Been half-a**ing it for tooooo long haha. Was time to get serious.

Awesome! I hope you use some sort of sunscreen daily. Please, let me know how you like the products. I may decide to incorporate some into my routine.

I use BareMinerals SPF mineral foundation as my facial sunscreen. I can't handle the texture of any daily sunscreens on my face (unless I'm at the beach all day). I did try some samples of the PC daily sunscreen and they were better than most..just takes so long to rub in/sink in for me.

I chose Mad Hippie over PC C15 due to cost. Mad Hippie is $22.50/1oz (via Amazon) vs. PC C15 $45/0.67oz.

You can usually find a 15% or 20% coupon code for Paula's Choice on the internet if you ever want to try it. I use the PC C15 and like it a lot. Right now there's a 15% coupon code if you go thru Mr. Rebates. Going thru Mr. Rebates automatically gives you 7% cash back, too.

Glad you can keep all those products straight... I couldn't.... I use SKINN for cleansing and exfoliating/masks.... ISOMERS for serums and creams.... Perricone for creams (I LOVE PHOTO PLASMA... wow what an amazing product...) Do not like SKINN for makeup... do like Perricone for makeup...Isomers really doesn't have makeup to sell (they have something but it looks weird)...I am the ONLY person on this board who did not have a good experience with Paula's products on this board so I always hear how I don't like Paula, etc....which is not true
From what I understand if you don't like SKINN, ISOMERS or Perricone you can always send those products back too for full credit... never have gotten an ISOMERS product I wanted to send back by the way... if you get Perricone from Sephora, you can go to the store and return it for full credit...

Oh yeah... btw the beautipedia doesn't like SKINN, ISOMERS or many Perricone products.. this is based on ingredients listed on the products rather than actual use... and it is an opinion and not really based on scientific evidence..

And Paula's products (like Shea Terra... which is a great line) is always on sale... yeah Paula!

It's 6 steps AM and 5 steps PM (cleanse, tone, exfoliate, serum, moisturize and prime (AM only)).

I think I can keep it straight
