I had a makeover at Nordies the other day and the make up artist was from Laura Mercier. He used her tightliner in blue marine and I was wondering if any of you use her tightline eyeliner or do you have more success with a eyeliner pencil or BB gel pot liner. I did purchase the flatliner brush. It was fun to learn some new tricks to enhance your eyes and also learned to use the radiance primer to contour. Thanks.

I like your question porschec.....that's a good one I've never attempted to tight line my eyes, but I always wonder how people get the liner off.....if you place the eyeliner on the upper rim of your eyelids, how do you remove it without getting makeup remover in your eyes? Or do you just let the liner wear off on its own?? I'd love some tips...maybe then I might try it out

I use the IT cosmetics waterproof tightliner. I also use an angled eye lining brush with gel liner for my top lids which gets in very close. There is not much problem with makeup removal. I use Lumene waterproof remover on a cotton pad. I hold it to the eye 2-3 times and swipe off. I then use Clinique Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser on my whole face which is a pre-cleanse specifically for getting make up off. I use my hands with it and make sure to go over my closed eyes. That's it. I then do my Clarisonic with PTR which Is part of my regular skin care routine.

I line my upper waterline/rim from the inside. The best I've found is Trish McEvoy's pencil gel liner -- it transfers the LEAST out of any I've tried.

I've learned to kind of mush it up into my lashes somewhat as well as on the rim.

I don't go all the way to the inner or outer corners because that always ends up puddled into the corners.

There will always be some transfer, but as I've said, minimal with the Trish McEvoy. When it does deposit a little on my lower rim, I just swipe it away.

I use an eyemakeup remover and hold the cotton pad on the eye for several seconds, then kind of push in. Then I cleanse with Tatcha's oil (but probably any cleanser that's good around eyes would do) and again, kind of focus on the lashes

For the life of me I don't do a good eyeliner the "normal" way, but I've pretty much got this licked. :-) The first time I did it I literally gasped when I saw the difference it made.

I also use a very black mascara and make sure I get some right into the base to enhance the look.

I just looked at it, porschec, and it looked like a regular cake eyeliner. Am I looking at the right thing?

Did he apply it above or underneath the lashes? I'm trying to figure out what makes it a "tightliner" other than maybe a very fine brush? Set me straight. :-)

I learned to tightline at a Laura Mercier counter, too, porschec. I love the marine bleu cake liner for tightlining, but I tend to use it for special occasions rather than every day. I love the look, but find pencils are faster and easier in my early morning rush to get ready for work. For me the harder pencils work better than softer ones for tightlining.

Kjelle and Maren.....thank you both so much for the tips. I dont want to high jack the thread, but I really appreciate the advice. Like the "mushing" tip, too!! You both described everything so well that I can picture how to do it. And I'm thinking the gel pencil sounds great, too, for a beginner. For removal, it sounds as though holding the cotton over the eye for a few secs must send just the right amount to the edge of the eye rim.....thanks ladies I'm going to keep checking back for more responses to Porschec's question.

Marren, the cake eyeliner is the one he used. You use a flatline brush, add a bit of water to liner make a paste. Then lift eyelid and smush brush directly on base of eyelash line. Not waterline. It came off easily with eye makeup remover & baby shampoo . I tried Trish McEvoy's gel liner but irritated my eyes and went on too clumpy. I may look into It tight liner.

If I tried to line on my upper lid with the TME, I wouldn't be able to. Thanks for explaining how he applied it -- interesting.

I do that sometimes. I also line the inner rim of my eyes most of the time. I like eye makeup.

Love LM tight line cake liner - it is the only eyeliner that never ends up below my eyes - so I never look like a raccoon. I have been using it for years. I don't use it on the waterline - didn't learn that technique. I use the liner to line very close to my lashes and just on the top. I also feel like I have more control in making the line. If you don't have a steady hand for liquid liners this is a good alternative. Takes a little bit longer but I like it a lot. I have the marine bleu and the plum. Both good colors.

Urban decay 24X7 liquid. Or lead-free Kohl I got at a Middle East specialty store. The Kohl is the fastest and best, but it only comes in black and gray. I use UD in navy or deep purple.
