Ran to McD's for my son a burger 'n fries tonight. Yes, we'd eaten dinner, beef, broccoli, rice, but he was still hungry (growing boy!).

Behind me in line was a very elderly lady who looked about 80 if she was a day.

Told the cashier I wanted to pay for my order and that lady's, total was just $4 and change for both orders. I told her I try to do at least one good deed/day, and since I've been home all day cleaning, and it's now 8:30 p.m., this was my only chance to do that good deed today. She could tell the lady that if she wondered why I did it.

Happened to glance up at the rearview mirror as I pulled away, only to find the employee taking the old lady's money, too.

I phoned McD's, told the manager that I think the employee actually double dipped....no, the mgr. said, the old woman refused to let someone pay for her food, and the $2 and change of mine was there on the counter. If I came back thru, I could have it back.

Then I felt bad, apologizing for thinking that employee had pocketed the money I intended for the old lady's order, and told the mgr. the girl could just keep it.

Does that still count as my good deed of the day??
