Korres body butters...tested at Sephora...odd smells...almost smelled old...all of them???

I went to Sephora yesterday and wanted to test the Korres body butters. They had Guava, Fig, and two more (can't remember names) with testers. When I opened the lids to try them, they ALL had an odd smell....almost an old smell...not quite rancid but just not what I was expecting. I couldn't tell if it was just the fact that they use more natural ingredients or were they ALL really old? None of them had a pleasant scent when I first opened the tube. They even had smaller tubes of the same scent....same thing for every tube I opened. I did apply the Guava to my hand...it really didn't have much of a scent to it at all.

I am fragrance sensitive, so I don't like things that are very overpowering or highly scented, but I was expecting them to have at least some sort of pleasant scent.

In your experience, when you open the tube (fresh), do they really smell scented, or do they have an odd smell? Do you have to apply them in order to make the fragrance come alive? Let me know your experiences please.

I think any testers that allow people to dip their fingers get contaminated and turn.

I will admit I am the odd one out but none of the Korres scents appeal to me. Some of them I find outright gross. The line isn't for me.

I tried Korres once. No odd smell but I thought they had a greasy feeling. I would not purchase again.

These are in a tube so there should be no fingers in the product.

But I don't know how long those testers sit there.

Yes...they were all in tubes.

I have used Guava for years and love it. Smells clean. Do not care for the Fig. Smells like pepper.

They must have been old. I like the Jasmine & Basil Lemon. I don't care for the Guava. I think it smells like something a man would wear. I think it's greasy if you use too much. It only takes a small amount.

I have sniffed most of them and dont like the scents either. I never tried this line so I, at least, wanted to try it so I bought their white grape ts. I got use to the scent but it is not a repurchase. The lotion is also a bit too thick for me. If it was a bit thinner it would be great.

I don't know what would cause that. I've opened Korres body butters over a year old & the scent was perfect and so was the texture. I've been very impressed with that. I also love that you use so much less product than with other similar products.

I love the Korres body butter but then I love a lot of body butters, they are one of my "weaknesses". I think they smell nice, not overpowering scents but nice. I don't like all of them. Sounds like the ones in Sephora are just rancid. They sit there for years in the heat under all those lights and I think they must just go bad after a while. I noticed this is the problem with a lot of the hand creams and other lotions too. I just think testers in Sephora and Ulta etc are so nasty. I just don't even "test" them anymore. Just a petri dish full of bacteria and nastiness.

I am regularly grossed out whenever I wander in Sephora (I have seen this at Victorias Secret too) and there are young girls in there applying makeup on each other with the testers. Ewwww. Just gross. One day I was in VS looking at their body butter, and there were 3 teens in there putting makeup on each other with the testers, eye makeup and lipstick, from the testers, right on their lips!!....... and sticking their fingers in the eye makeup palettes......just gross.

I wanted to walk over and tell them how unsanitary that was!! Did their moms never tell them??? OMG.........

I liked the white grape also, when I first got it. I'll use what I have, but I don't plan to repurchase.

I like the Vanilla Guava, probably the most. I repurchase that, when I'm low. I have (I think ) 2 tubes right now of that so I'm good for a while.

I bought the Jasmine last summer and really loved the smell, very light and pretty. I didn't use all of it so I saved it, tightly capped and in a dark cabinet. But when I went to use it again this spring the scent was strange and off, not at all what I remembered it to be. So I think the scents don't last well in these butters and the testers probably sit there awhile.

Vanilla guava, I dont think I have sniffed that one. I might check it out when I am through with the white grape. Definitely a nice moisturizer albeit a little too thick.

I don't know about changing fragrances. I love Korres. I think my favorite is White Grape. I don't care so much for the Lemon Basil. It smells like Pledge to me. I like the Guava very much. I got the last TS and the Mango is not one of my favorites but OK. To tell you the truth, I use the shower gel and body butters everyday and really like it. My nail cuticles that have given me problems for years are the best they have every been. I have been using the butters for hand cream and I love it.

I love Korres shower gels and BB's. All, that I could think of was that the product (testers) in the store were older and needed to be tossed.

I was in Ulta a few days ago looking at items on the clearance rack. It was another brand of a soufflé moisturizer, but when I opened it to smell, it looked awful, you could tell that it was starting to separate and that people had been dipping their fingers into the product. I took it up to the counter when I was leaving and told them that they should not be selling this.

they probably are old! My friend was checking out korres in Sephora and they told her that they were discontinuing the line! More than likely because the prices on hsn are so much better

Diva-I feel the EXACT same way about most of the Korres scents I've tried. I have a bunch of Korres stuff in my stash, including about 2-3 of the body butters and 1-2 shower gels. I don't reach for them at all b/c although I think that they are good moisturizers (still not my fave) I really don't love their scents. There always seems to be something a bit off about them to my nose and I really was starting to think I was the only one who felt this way. I like a few of their lip butters, and I've read great things about a few of their skin care items, but I don't think I'll be trying them again. The bummer is that they have such great deals on this line at HSN and I get drawn into the sale (can't say s*cked).

My favorite Korres fragrances are lemon basil first, then Guava, then Jasmine. Bergamot Pear is my least favorite.

I use the shower gels as does my boyfriend. Even the worst one, Japanese rose, doesn't stay with you and it certainly wasn't so offensive that we couldn't use it to bathe with. I'm amittedly lazy when it comes to body lotions but I do have a few and I dont recall those staying with you for any length of time either
