When you go to a Mac counter to find your foundation shade do you ask for a full coverage foundation to get the number? NW or NC? TIA

Find your foundation formula first then ask for color. Decide whether you want, for example, the powder to foundation compact or a liquid long lasting foundation, pressed powder etc.

NC actually means neutralizes cool. NW means neutralizes warm. Backwards, as the rep told me today during online chat and later by phone because I didn't believe the first one. Yep it's logically backwards. The numbers get deeper as they increase e.g. ordered NC50 something , it was too light so the makeup specialist recommended NC 58. But they don't have a NC58 , they do have a NW58 which he said would be nice or he said order N9, go figure. Don't ask me what the N9 means except that N9 in L'Oreal Paris True Match is neutral mahogany. (it is a nice color similar to Mally's deep, but I don't know how long lasting the L'Oreal is) Some of the formulatios come in N1, N3, N9 etc so I assume its neutral and deeper as the number increases. I ordered the MAC NW58, I'll find out how accurately the artist guessed when it gets here.

There was, however , no quarreling about returning the item and they paid .

Since you're going out, check out LANCOME too. They have various formulations , one for anti aging, one 24h , a two piece matched concealer and foundatio in one jar/bottle dispenser etc. Their reputation is sparkling. Their color chart is heavy on the light shades but there are a whole lot of them. I ran into trouble with that one too because the suede 540 is too light, almost tan but the suede 550 was neon orange. I'm considering buying both and mixing until I get to my color.

I do so hope you enjoy your adventure and find something fabulous. If you find lip stain in raisin or mahogany or sienna, please share the info. I'd love to have one.
