I did my normal three week coloring yesterday. Typically I rinse the color then cleanse with Wen as usual, and normally just toss that little packet of conditioner that comes in the box of color. This time I chose to rinse out the color then follow with the conditioner packet and finish with a pump of wen as a leave in. I think my color set better this time than it has the last several tomes. Just my two cents! Good luck!

I touch up my roots then mix the left over w/ wen...lots of wen cc and after the 15 minutes of root touch up, I slather the mix of colorant and wen all over my hair so the entire shaft gets a bit of color refresh. Leave that on for about 10 minutes and then rinse everything out really well.

No build up of color at the ends and my hair is not the least bit damaged.

Ouch! I would recommend never washing out dye with shampoo. You're washing color down the drain. That's one of the biggest reasons Wen was created! To preserve color. Chaz always talks about how his clients would get their hair done and it was great but two weeks later their color is fading badly and he went to work figuring on how to preserve the color and he discovered that anything that lathers will strip. That means natural moisture and color. Always use Wen while coloring. It will preserve the color better. I don't color anymore and my natural color is so much more enhanced because of Wen. It's a matter of preference, I know.

kate2357, I love your idea. I recently used shampoo as a first cleanse. I was attempting to gradually fade my color; I was very successful. I could only stand the shampoo for a week, but it took my hair from darkest brown to an almost light brown shade. I'm going to use your tip for my next touch up. Thanks.

I always wash with Wen after coloring and just toss the conditioner that comes with the color. The Wen gets the strong odor from the color out of my hair. I usually follow with an overnight Remoist treatment.

Just wanted to add that before I color, I do a Remoist treatment the day before, then put oil on my scalp at least a couple of hours before I do the color to allow the oil to soak in. That protects my scalp. They add a couple of drops of WEN oil to your color, wash out with WEN, I use fig, follow with a Remoist treatment.

Funny you should ask this... I rinse the color out then condition with SHP CC. Last week I dyed and my hair turned bright orange. After the initial panic wore off I re-dyed with a darker color. I'm rather certain that if not for Wen my hair would have been fried from the double processing. But miraculously my hair shows no signs of breakage or damage.
