topic Anyone Use Cake Mascara in Beauty

Does anyone out there use cake mascara? I found my cake mascara from Paula Dorf and Chanel.. I attempted to finally use it this afternoon and was not pleased.. I used an eyelash curler and I will admit that it was the blackest black color (nice color), but it did nothing to lengthen... My question is should I make it thicker to maybe go on better and help lengthen or is there a certain type of wand that will make the lashes longer? Thanks for any tips shared..
