I was wondering who uses/tried this and your thoughts on it. I hardly ever see any discussion-good or bad- about it.

I have no real need for hold of my style - is this is all this is suppose to do, like hairspray, just hold? Or are there other creative ways people have used it?

Has anyone used it and after a while, felt it was drying their hair out? Any other issues with it? Any other raves about it?

TIA!

It is a staple for me. After cleansing, I use 6 spritzer with my SC. I can skip mousse, but things stay together much better after drying if I have my VTS. I will also use it as a hair spray on rare occasions but don't usually need it. I have also tried scrunching it into curls, by spraying on palms and rubbing my palms til it got tacky. That worked very well.

Thanks Kjelle! Mixing it with the SC can probably help keep it from drying your hair out. That is a good idea. It doesn't make your hair feel crunchy at all (like I remember hairspray doing)?

I really like the VTS, I have it in Sweet Almond Mint. I don't use it every cleanse, but when I do, I really like it. I either mix it in with my styling cream and apply to wet hair, then spray some in my hands and apply directly to my roots with my fingertips. This works really well when I'm blow drying, gives me great volume. When I take the time to do a round brush blowout, I use it as a finishing spray, three or four spritzes from at least 12" away is all I need.

I don't find it to be overly drying, but it's definitely not moisturizing, lol. I'm curious to know if it's going to be in the upcoming TSV, I will need more soon.

Not crunch. It stays light and bouncy, but the curl doesn't let down so fast.

I really like the VTS. I mix it with my SC or mousse mostly. Because I have natural curl, it helps hold them and keeps them bouncy and soft. I don't use it every cleanse but I do notice a difference in "hold" when I don't. Sometimes my curls will get a little saggy w/o it. 5-7 squirts is usually enough. I tried a lot more once but it did get crunchy when I used too much. Also if you need a little hold for a finished style it works great. I don't need to use it like that often but once in a while I style my hair up and need the hold. I have it in POM.

I have only used it as a hairspray mostly. I don't use it often, maybe once a month. I have tried it once mixed with styling creme. It worked okay. It did give me hold to my style. I am curious about if it is drying, too. The second ingredient is SD alcohol. I do feel that it is less drying than regular hairsprays/volumizes, though.

I mix it with the 613 SC. It lasts forever. I find it gives my hair a little extra oomph without too much poofiness. It works much better than mlusse fir me. I haven't found it drying, the combo of 613 sc and vts makes my hair very shiny. I haven't tried mixing with my leave in CC yet, i usually do one or the other, (sc or leave in cc) but not both, because i don't like a lot of product in my hair. I don't like it as well as a pure hairspray, but maybe i used too much or sprayed from too close, but I really like it as a mix in with the sc. I have it in pom.

I was a die hard hairspray user! My fine hair won't hold a style at all without hairspray and I always bought the strongest hold available, like 26 Hold.

When I tried VTS I didn't expect it to work. It did! I spray it in my hands, rub together and work into my roots. I haven't had any trouble getting zits on my scalp either, like I did with regular hairspray. And it gives me lift. If I use like hairspray I also get hold but since I use a lot I can get "crunchy." I need to learn to use less I think

I want even more lift but strong hairspray didn't give me any more than VTS. I just have flat hair. But I'm hoping as long as I keep using Wen products, stay away from heat tools (I'm even air-drying now) my hair will grow out in better shape and I can get an idea of what it can do naturally.

Looks like I'm odd man out on this one haha.....I tried it but it was an ""eh"" for me after a few uses. I find I get more noticeable volume with the mousse. I tried it once as a setting/hair-spray and that didn't go over too well. I wouldn't purchase it in the future. Which means there's that much more for all you other Wenners

well, you all make a convincing argument for trying it at least although I don't really need volume or hold, lol. The only thing stopping me at this point is that the 3 formulas out so far all have the drying kid of alcohol and witch hazel, two things that are very drying so it makes me nervous. It wouldn't be bad if used once in awhile I suppose but I don't know, they are both so high on the list, especially if mixed with SHP SC, which is pretty darn moisturizing?

Maybe, just maybe, the bgt might be a slightly different formulation, but I could be just wishful thinking here.

HD, I thought HonnyBrown said it was the moisturizing kind of alcohol? Maybe I'm confused but perhaps someone will find that info and reply here. I do find it hard to believe that Chaz would make anything that would dry our hair out!!

BTW, if you don't need volume or hold I don't think you will use VTS anyway

ETA: Unless someone tells us another reason to use it, but that's all I know it's for.

Witch hazel can also be drying. Sorry but them are the facts.

The only reason I mentioned it is for those of us battling with dryness, these two ingredients can be problematic.

On 7/14/2014 Kjelle said: Not crunch. It stays light and bouncy, but the curl doesn't let down so fast.

okay well this might be something I could use it for. Sometimes when I do my curls (sock bun, twist, or with soft curler things), now that I have even thicker hair, the curls don't last as long as I'd like. So I can try it for days that I do curls and see if they last longer. Thanks!
