Small problem, need help!

I have a tiny zit (really small) under my lip and it never comes to a head but is just a tiny bump until I scratch at it and it becomes bigger. Anyway this thing NEVER goes away. It goes away but I know it is still under there and then it comes back. Other than seeing a doctor which is not something I can do, what can I do to finally get rid of this. I am currently dabbing tea tree oil on it and a couple of days ago a sulfur mask dabbed on. It is not showing but I can feel the tiny little bump. Warm cloths don't work, benz whatever doesn't work, Korean blemish patches do not work. It's like it is deep and keeps rising to the surface. The top layer heals but it is still in there. My next trial is retin-a. Help please.

Kat, I really really think this calls for a doctor.

I had what I thought were inflamed areas where I assumed I bit my tongue. My dentist sent me for a consult with an oral surgeon immediately. They scheduled surgery to do a biopsy on the skin/contents. The doctors were very serious. Turned out benign. But they were not willing to ignore it.

how long have you had it? Is it milia? I know you said you were using a bunch of new products, perhaps it has caused milia. Otherwise, you really need to go to the doctor. To me, going to see the doctor is more important that buying retin a which can be expensive and could make things worse since you have no idea what it is you are dealing with.

Under my lip on my face. I occasionally get whiteheads below my lip (maybe from lip gloss)but this one comes and goes so my thought that it is deep and it comes to a head, heals, comes to a head, heals and on and on. It never fully comes out or dries up. Sorry, I know it is gross. TIA.

Salicylic acid to clean out pore, Glycolic acid to exfoliate.

How about Epsom salts or caladryl lotion

maybe the Epsom salts could pull it out, caladryl could dry it up?

I've used in the past regular white toothpaste, it dries out the pimple, dab it on before bed

Try toothpaste that's an actual paste, not a gel. It's known for to drying out and clearing up pimples/zits.

I would go to an esthetician to have it removed. The one I go to will schedule an appointment for 10 minutes - a dollar a minute for extractions. I feel for you.

It could possibly be skin cancer. There are often dermatologists that do free clinics where you could have it checked out. Sometimes skin cancers can mimic a pimple.

Yes...please see a derm. This could be a lesion. Some auto-immune diseases have this as a symptom...not trying to scare you, but it would be good to have it checked. In fact, the derms around here had no idea what my daughter had after ten or more visits. Get a second opinion if not satisfied.

In the meantime, you could try Mario Badescu's pink stuff (Drying lotion). Could just be a tenacious zit.

As a Melanoma Survivor x2 and RDH, I implore you to go to a doctor or at least one of those clinics at your local pharmacy (like Walgreens "Take Care clinic"). You will be seen by a NP or PA, in most cases. You keep putting OTC stuff on it without luck and in the meantime a doctor could have given you a proper diagnosis. Most will let you make payments. For all the $ spent on OTC things you could have had a proper medical consult.

It could be so many things - regular zit, clogged sweat gland, sebaceous cyst, benign or malignant lesion. Please stop just putting stuff on it, willy nilly.

Another thought - could it possibly be a reaction to a lipstick, gloss, balm...? Your lower lip protrudes over a bit, that could be trapping a cosmetic. Just a thought.

I have something similar, also on the very bottom of my lower lip. Where it seems to differ from yours is that mine eventually gets large enough so that I can easily squeeze out the contents. Not to get too descriptive as to offend anyone but it is always a white pus like substance that comes out. Then it shrinks right back down again and although I know it is just barely there, it doesn't bother me. I can't really classify it as a blackhead because it's not one so really don't know what the heck it is. It takes a month, sometimes 2 or more before it starts to become really visible again and the routine commences once more.

I have no concerns about mine as it is just not something that seems to warrantee that plus I have had it for years now. It pretty much disappears when I get the contents out and then very, very slowly builds up again. When it does become visible to me, I also thought initially that I could just pick it off but have learned that that doesn't work as I have to drain what's inside out.

Sounds like a whitehead - Google for pics, etc..
