I've got curly, thick and dry hair and I've seen articles that say if you have curly, dry hair, you shouldn't always shampoo when you are in the shower; however, you should always wet your hair and run conditioner through it while showering between shampoos. I've never done this minus the shampoo bit and was wondering if anyone else had, and if so, did it work for you?

For some reason, I'm thinking it would make your hair dirtier, but I fully admit I may not have thought it through. Thanks in advance!

Yes I have washed my hair using conditioner & not shampooing first. My hair was clean & soft. Since I have oily scalp I did not think it would clean my hair but to my surprise it did.

Treat the conditioner like a shampoo - work it into your hair, let it sit while you shower, then rinse it out.

I do this about every other day and have for years. My hair is thick and wavy so I definitely need to use a conditioner on days I don't shampoo or I can't hardly comb through it. I also use a clarifying shampoo once a week or so. You should try it!

most conditioners (esp the cheap ones) has non-foaming cleaners in it so you do not need shampoo. it is called co-washing. Pantene has a co-wash that is very good in the african american hair section( good all hair types) Aussie moist and suave coconut make great conditioner co-washes

I did this before Wen! Pantene Curly was my staple line for 4 years. In between shampoos, I would dampen (not drench) my hair in the shower and rub a small amount of Pantene Curly Conditioner through my hair. I never rinsed it out.

On wash days, I also used it as my leave-in.

I wash every other day and condition in between. My hair is wavy and fine but I have a lot of it. If I wash every day, it has no body and doesn't hold the curl as well. This works well for me. You really won't know if it will work for you until you try it. Everyone's hair is different so what works for one may not work for another.

Prior to using WEN, this was my routine. And no, it doesn't make your hair dirty. Like others have said, it's called co-washing. My hair is wavy, thick, coarse, and extremely dry. In my pre-WEN days, I would rarely wash it for this reason. But I would usually "wash" with my conditioner at least every other day. This helped when I finally made the transition to WEN because "no-poo" wasn't a foreign concept to me, lol!
