There is one call the Prestige on the other channel and InStyler makes one you can find at Ulta. They work similar and many like the handle shape versus the Perfectors smaller handle. Calista's new one has a new handle and a similar shape to the Prestige.

I am thinking about trying the Perfector hair styling brush but would like opinions from anyone who has used it. I have very thin, fine hair that needs body. What do you think?

I have it. My hair fine and long. I use it to turn my ends under and then to get some lift on top by taking a section of hair and holding it over the Perfecter. One thing I can't stress enough is to not take your eye off it, don't move your head, and don't move your hand at all when you have it rolled in your hair. One time I wanted to put full curls all over my head and I tried to replicate what they did on the infomercial. I got the section of hair rolled down, happened to look away and moved my head in the process. The Perfecter got stuck in my hair. I immediately yanked the cord, and in a panic I called DH to help me get the thing out. He did, but I also lost some hair in the process. Since then, I've learned my limits and that's why I only curl the ends under and do the lift on top as I've described. If/when I want a full head of curls I use my Calista Hot Rollers.

My hair is thin on top. I am completely white haired. I do not use it to style my hair after washing. I do use it to freshen up my style. My hair is quite fly away and it does calm down the flyaways. I use it like I would use a brush. And, for that I really, really like it.

Never, ever use it like a regular curling iron. It will grab your hair and get tangled. I do like it. But, you really do need to watch it when you use it. The above poster is absolutely correct.

I have very fine, straight hair and love the Perfecter. It doesn't give me tight curls, but it gives my hair waves and tons of body and shine that lasts all day. I have had more compliments on my hair since I've been using it.

There is a learning curve, however. You don't roll your hair up on it like you would a curling iron. (Learned this the hard way, it can and will get stuck in your hair if you do that.). Instead, you have to keep it moving and sort of brush through your hair with a twisting motion. There are excellent videos at the Perfecter website. I use the method shown in the medium to long hair video.

http://www.tryperfecter.com/hairstyle-ideas-tips.php

There was a thread on this a while back, and a few posters said they preferred the John Frieda Hot Air Brush. I seem to recall the reason was it didn't get caught in the hair as easily. I haven't tried either, but made a mental note to remember the JF to consider when I got around to buying one. Maybe someone will come along who's used the JF.

I personally can NOT recommend the T3 Hot Brush thing (I forget what it's called). It did absolutely nothing for my hair, in fact seemed to make it look flatter. (It did make it look shinier, though.) But of course, there are some who are very happy with it. It's never easy, is it? :-)

It doesn't get snagged as long as you keep tension on it and unroll with tension. My hair layers are too short to get the vertical curls they do on the video. I've tried. I really love mine and use it nearly every day. I also have a tradition curling brush in 3/4"" that I use for tighter curls and hot rollers. I do wish Calista had made her new on in a 1/2"" or 3/4"" size for those of us with shorter hair and want curls.

There is not a lot of publicity over it like the Perfector and you will never see it advertised on TV. I found out about it by searching Amazon.

That is because it is a hot air brush, a brush with blow dryer functioning used to dry hair. The Perfecter is a hot curling brush, like a curling iron but with teeth to protect the fingers and grip the hair. They are different creatures. One look at both of them will tell you this. You DO NOT use the Perfecter with wet/damp hair at all. That is so not a good idea. The John Freida is much better for longer hair, as I have a short bob/long pixie and can't use the hot air brushes, though there are small diameter ones and don't like the teeth on those as they don't grip the hair like the John Frieda does. The JF has more natural boar/nylon bristles that really grip the hair. The smaller ones have nylon, long teeth that are ok for gripping the hair but feel like they tangle much easier.

Thanks for this post. I've been wondering the same thing. I have shoulder length hair. I want something to help smooth the frizz and turn the ends under and create a little body. Which one is better? Perfector or JF air brush. I currently have an air brush fro conair. It seems to just get too hot. I'm afraid its doing damage to my hair. I really want to try something different, but to spend almost $100 on something for my hair is a little scary. Thanks for any input.
