Hi Everyone,

Years ago I used to use something from Aveda that was like a nice, cleansing shampoo that got all the "junk" outta my hair. I'm not even a huge hair product user; however, I've been using this particular dry shampoo on days I don't want to wash and it is a bear to get out the next day. With regular shampoo I feel that I have to wash twice to get the thick, dry shampoo feeling out of my hair.

Anything like this in the drugstores? Or does Aveda still sell something similar? I'll have to look at prices, but I'd love to find something in Target or CVS!

TIA

This may sound odd but on one of the Philosophy shows they mentioned they had feedback that that some women used Purity Made Simple (the facial wash) as a way to de-gunk hair. I don't use a lot of hair products but I do this every once and a while and it does seem to make my hair feel cleaner. I shampoo, use the Purity and then condition.

A great clarifying shampoo that works great to get the gunk out is available at Target or drugstores: Neutrogena's Anti-Residue Shampoo.

Yep. You need a clarifying shampoo. The one I use prior to doing a whole head coloring a few days before the color app is Ion Color Solutions which I get at Sally's Beauty Supply House. It is sulfate free, removes product build-up, makes my hair shiny esp. if it is color-treated and paraben free.

It does the job for me beautifully!

Good luck!

Btw, aspen & Ladies, I purchased the Neutro shampoo at CVS yesterday and used this morning. It's fantastic and just what I needed. I could literally feel the product coming out of my hair. I've been using Big Se&y Hair's Dry Shampoo a few days/week lately and while I like the results for the day when I do use this product, it's a bear to get out of the hair and definitely gives it a very stiff texture. I don't know if I'll repurchase the dry shampoo b/c of this. I'm still on my search for my HG dry shampoo!

Great news, glmama! I've used the Neutro shampoo for years. Even though I don't put lots of gunk on my hair, I find that washing with Neutro about once every 2 or 3 months, just one time, really "refreshes" my locks! So glad it worked well for you too.

If you need a very gentle clarifier try Pureology & you need very little to remove buildup. Don't use it more than once or twice a month if you have delicate/highlighted hair.

Agree with KatCat--you don't need a special clarifying shampoo, a tablespoon of baking soda works great to remove any build up. You can just dissolve it in water , use as a rinse, then rinse with water. Gunk is gone and no need to buy a special shampoo.
