You know how when you go to your Facebook app on your phone and slide the screen over to the left and there is a list of several of your friends marked "favorites" and it shows how many minutes or hours ago they were on Facebook?

Well, I'm just wondering if there is any way to deactivate yourself from that list so others can't see that info? (Besides deleting your Facebook app from your phone)

I could be wrong, but I think you have to go into your FB and turn off the chat option. I don't know how to do it from the phone, but if you do it on your computer, your settings should apply across the board, shouldn't they?

You know, I WAS thinking the same thing, that it might have something to do with chat and I did turn off the chat option on the computer today. I will have hubby check and see if I am showing up on his phone. Thanks!

Well guess what JeanLouiseFinch, dh checked his phone and turning off the chat thing on my desktop doesn't work. He can still see when I was on there. And when I look at the chat thing on my phone, it doesn't give me any options!

Why not stay logged onto facebook on your home computer (if you have one) 24/7. They will figure out that you never log off since they know you aren't actually on there 24/7. Then no one will have a clue as to how long you are actually active.

I do that out of laziness. That way I can click to check FB a minute whenever without logging in or out.

In addition to the chat setting, there’s something everyone needs to check now and then.

In the upper right corner of the Facebook screen, click on the arrow to see a drop-down menu. Click on “Settings.” Then choose “Security” and look for the “Where You’re Logged In” section. Click on that. The only listing you should see is the session you’re currently logged into. If you see others, you need to click on “End Activity.”

These open, unattended sessions usually occur when you close the tab/browser or otherwise close out Facebook without logging out first. They leave your account open to hackers who browse Facebook, looking for these extra, unattended sessions. Personally, I always log out after using Facebook and I always recommend everyone do the same. (My background in IT security in hospitals makes me wary of leaving open sessions for any website, but Facebook in particular).
