topic Topstyler advice--can you brush your hair after using? in Beauty

I just ordered the topstyler yesterday when it was offered as the TSV. Having missed all of the presentations throughout the day, I only saw the one that's being used on the online video clip of the product. In that clip, I noticed that the guy who sells this always uses his fingers to "comb out" the models' hair--no brushes were ever used. Also, I didn't hear him mention whether or not you could, or should, use a brush after styling. Could any of you out there who already own this product tell me if using a brush instead of just your fingers would ruin the curl?

Also, since I have fine, limp hair, I'm thinking that I should probably use some kind of thermal protectant spray before styling. Would really appreciate some advice about which brands do a good job and that are reasonably priced.

Thanks for any advice!
