Does anyone use bar soap anymore?

I have been using body wash and puffs for many years, but decided to go back to using a washcloth and bar soap. I picked up a bunch of white washcloths from Walmart (18 for $4.00, 100% cotton) and lever 2000 bar soap and Olay bar soap (trying a few different ones). Any suggestions on a nice bar soap with a nice fresh scent, that does not feel like it dried you out?

I like bar soaps -- deodorant soaps in the summer. I have some of the Philosophy bars, too.

Yes. After years of using Philosophy gels, I went back to classic Dove soap. We used it as children and I love the smell. I definitely don't feel dried out at all.

I was gifted with a bar of Pangea Organics soap earlier this week. I used it this morning and it was a lovely soap - - - very moisturizing and it smelled so good.

It also left soap scum all over and reminded me of why I prefer liquid body wash.

I only use bar soap to wash my lady parts, and I use Dove Unscented. I use Philosophy on the rest of my body, but had to stop using "fancy" cleansers down there due to irritation. Hence the switch to good ole Unscented Dove.

I love bar soap. For some crazy reason, I feel cleaner using a bar soap.

Dove has some new scents out.

I recently bought "Cetaphil" because my skin tends to dry out.

Neutrogena makes a good one too.

I have also had good results with "Yardley" (only $1.00 at Dollar General).

Never used gels or the liquid. Dial and Dove work well.

In the bath I prefer liquid soap as it rinses cleaner and leaves the tub cleaner than bar soap.

Neutrogena always rinses better than the "solid" bar soaps, IMO. I always like that and sometimes pick up other brands of transparent bars.

Regardless -- whether a bar soap or a liquid gel -- I use my Salux cloth.

I LOVE Kirk's Castille bar soap. I use it on my whole body including my face. It has a faint, pleasant scent but leaves no scent on your skin. It doesn't dry out my skin and rinses really clean.

Sure do - toss up between Lever 2000 and Dial (a green bar with grape seed oil).

I sometimes use bar soaps but I don't use the big name brands. I have a few specialty ones and soaps that were made locally.

I just started using a Salux cloth. Wow, the smooth feeling of my skin is so great! Body only, not on my face. I still like shower gels or creams. I like L'Occitane gels for summer (using Vitoria Regia day flower now) creams for winter. Btw, several L'Occitane shower gels are 50 percent off now.

I have always used bar soap...except one time when I tried liquid soap and hated it...I use Dial....it doesn't leave my skin itchy...like those other fancy soaps...

Hi-Ivory bar soap has been a staple of mine since my early teens. I always have it in the house and it is the 'regular' soap we keep in the shower. That being said, I LOVE all things bath & body related and therefore I have scrubs, gels, washes, galore. I like to use the shower gels or scrubs for most of my body and use the regular ivory on more delicate areas.

I also love many hand-made bar soaps. And frequently we have a special bar in the shower, too.

quincybird - I did the same thing with the white washcloths. I keep a supply available for the shower and for at the sink. It's easy to bleach a load, if needed, to get any makeup stains out without ruining a colored cloth. I gave up body washes last year and went back to bar soaps. I don't insist on just one kind, have used several; Lever 2000, Dial, Oliviella, Kiss My Face, Yardley, South of France. The next time I go to the farmer's market, I'm hoping to find some homemade artisan soaps. Surprisingly, DH likes the bar soap too.
