How do I go from Bangs to This?

I have bangs but want to grow them out into a style similar to this picture. I am not sure how to begin because when I let them get a little long they look terrible and are in my eyes constantly. Would I go to a stylist and get them layered or something? I have no clue!! Please advise if you can! Thank you!

Start pushing them to the side and use some gel if you need

That's the same look I am trying for. While my bangs are growing out, I am doing a deep side part and using a bobby bin to keep them out of my face. I kind of tuck the bobby pin under the rest of my hair and it doesn't show. I did talk with my stylist about it at my last color so she is aware of my intentions. You may want to talk to your stylist and show her the picture. She can advise you on how to best achieve that style with your hair. Good luck! I can't wait until my bangs are gone.

Many years ago I did grow out my bangs and ended up not liking it because I was always pushing the part that grew out behind my ears. I think if your bangs tend to be on the longer side you could always use a barrette or some decorative bobby pin to hold some or all of them back. The picture is pretty though.

I would do a deep part, similar to the pic, and draw your bangs to one side. Then grow them as long as you can before you go to your stylist. Once they are long enough, she can blend them into the side of your hair as they continue to grow. Good luck, it's a pretty style.

Bobbie pins, hair combs, barrettes or headbands. There are all sorts of styles in all of the hair accessories. With a headband, you don't have to pull all your hair back, you can part it and then place the headband on rather than push it back. If you go to a stylist that they keep cutting you'll be in the growing out stage forever.

Now's the time to experiment with different shorter styles...but just don't cut the bangs. From the bangs you have now to the 1st layer this picture has....could be a good 5 inches. You could cut the back of your hair to a shoulder length with layers...with room to grow. Decorative pins, hairbands...that 'crazy period' will be for awhile!!

Similar to KatCat, I let mine grow out (from a bob), and I couldn't stand it--the front part was always in the way!

Growing out bangs is not an easy process, I think you got some good suggestions here.

You really just need to have them grow out! I am in the exact same position. I think this cut would be more flattering w/ about two more inches cut from he bottom.

I also like Allison Janneys hairstyle. Just looking for one that I like without my bangs. Thank you all so much for all the suggestions and ideas and advice. Its quite helpful. I have had bangs for years and hope to have a nice style once they grow out lol!!!

If you part your hair where you want it, you only need to pin back the one side. Get bobbis that match the color of your hair. You can just pin back the whole section of bangs, or put them in place where they hardly show.

When I grew out my bangs, it took about 6 months or so.

I grew out all my layers and now never know what to do with my hair!! It's chin length and so blah. I don't want to do anything that I'll regret.... and then another year+ to grow out layers! I might treat myself to a DevaShon or Ouidad salon for a cut. I want to keep some length (so I can wear it up in hot weather) but also bring out the curls.

My hair was like the picture for many years. It was constantly over my face and in my mouth. I had my stylist cut me some cute bangs and I'll never be without some type of bangs again. Also, I have received many compliments on how much younger bangs make me look. You may look really great in bangs and not realize it.

The more I think about all this the more I am truly not sure I want my bangs gone!!

My hair is so fine and thin and I worry it wont keep a style like those in the pictures.

I know that I always hear that bangs make you look younger and maybe I just need to

get a new salon. The ones around here don't seem to employ anyone that knows how to cut hair right!!!! I do have the name of a salon in a nearby town and I just might give that a try before doing anything drastic!!! Thanks everyone!

Time, patience and head bands, etc. to grow out bangs, which is a pain in the neck. I had to do this the past year. I had all my hair cut off as old chemo hair was growing out. My hairdresser called it 'frog fur'.
