OT: Seriously, how do you remove the glue QVC uses to adhere the shipping

slip when you want to return the package? I've been going at four fat stripes of it with an X-acto knife and not making much progress.

Does this interfere with the return label? I can't put it on the reverse side as that is a "collapsible" type thing, and it's too large for the sides of the box.

This isn't the first time I've been frustrated by this, but this is the first time there's no other surface that will accommodate the label.

I don't remove it. I tape up the package and put the label on the opposite side so that the glue won't interfere.

You can tape over the glue and then affix the label to the tape OR tape the label all down over the strips.

Turn the plastic package inside out and put the return label on the outside (which was before you turned it the outside) label.

Then tape it up. I do this over and over and (you have no idea). I've returned so many I've lost track. Nothing has ever been lost getting back to QVC.

Sometimes HSN uses the plastic packages when I buy their clothing. I do the same thing.

I'm not so smart (I only figured this out because someone here said to turn the package inside out). I was always trying to return the packages of clothing by peeling off the old labels.

This is next to impossible.

The post office has no problem with this packaging. If you don't want to use the QVC return label, you can make up your own label and stick it on the package after you've turned it inside out.

The opposite side collapses -- like a file box if you know what I mean. That's usually the best way to do it, IMO, but just can't do it with this box.

I was afraid the "ridges" would interfere with the bar code scanning if I put the label over it. I'm currently looking around for another box I can put THIS box into. Aarrrgh!

And you wouldn't believe the nasty things I was saying in my mind about QVC while I was chipping away. :-)

I would just use a heavy black marker and go over the old shipping label to cover the bar codes and the shipping address.

If you can apply the new label on top of the old one I would. Don't worry about removing it.

That's a GREAT idea -- but this is a box, not one of those tyvek packages. I'll definitely do the inside-out thing next time I'm returning an item in one of them. I may have one around here I can use -- but the box is pretty big. Thanks for this tidbit!

Inside out works for me. I used to dread wrestling with those labels, but no more - thanks to to the poster who suggested the "inside out" solution. So simple, but I would never have thought of it.

I have some plain white larger size labels. I put a couple of those over the original label on the box and then the return label on top of that. I don't return often, but I'm not aware of any problem with this method.

Just turn them inside out. If it is a box cover it up with paper like Krimpette said or you can peel off the label. It takes time but I do it all of the time on boxes.

Annabelle! You are - - like the smartest person I ever met! (Lol). I seriously never thought to turn the bag inside out. Sometimes the most obvious solution is right in front of our eyes!

That's what I do. i go over all the info and barcodes with a thick permanent marker.

1. The original shipping label was actually in the ENVELOPE that QVC affixes to some boxes. It was the ENVELOPE I removed and left the glue lumps.

2. The opposite side of the box is collapsable and if I tried to affix the label to that, it caved in.

3. The top of the box isn't large enough to accommodate the return label without overlapping the lumpy glue tracks.

4. The sides of the box aren't deep enough to accommodate the label.

5. My concern is the LUMPY GLUE TRACKS might interfere with the RETURN LABEL scan.

If it was as easy as just blacking out the original label I would have done that, and have done it before. I wouldn't have been asking for advice.

I put it in a larger box and am returning in that, but I had to remove the interior packaging and fill in with paper and shipping peanuts.

The label does not, does not have to be in the same place as the one removed. I saw where someone was concerned about the glue lumps on the box.

You can even turn the box upside down and put it (the return label or your own label) on the bottom of the package.

The machines they use (UPS and Post Office) does not know the right side from the bottom of the packages.

I've received packages with the label on the end of the box.

You guys have no idea of all of the packages I send back to QVC. I just sent back one of those lounge chairs (gravity chairs) because it was a gift and it was the wrong color.
