I've used one for more than 30 years. I have more problems with losing lashes when I remove my eye make up than using an eyelash curler. I switched to Shu Uemera a year ago.

If you have used one or are using one, did you notice that using it caused you to lose eyelashes? I'm just starting to think about buying one, but that one concern makes me think twice. TIA

I use one and haven't had any loss of lashes or problems with them breaking. I wouldn't use it after applying mascara, they will stick to the curler and pull the lashes out. Did that once as a teen.

Don't forget we lose lashes anyway. Do yours look more sparse -- or do you just notice one falling out once in a while?

I was a Shu Uemura devotee for years, but heard great reviews about Billy B from Wayne Goss and other professionals. I just ordered one off Beautylish and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. But I've also had drugstore Maybelline, etc., and no real problems with any of those, either.

I NEVER leave without curling my eyelashes and mascara. Maybe it's a throwback from my life as a teenager in the 60's.

I have given them as gifts to friends who tell me how much they like my eyes but never use an eyelash curler. Some have been too afraid to try. Some say, "Thank you. I'd have not gotten one on my own; too afraid".

It is a scary looking thing.....coming at your eye with that contraption!

It will definitely open up your eyes. It just takes a little practice. Make sure you keep it on your eyelashes long enough for them to curl.

When you put mascara on put it on starting at the BASE of your eyelashes and swing upward.

I read where people don't do that then the tops of the eyelashes have too much mascara and the curl comes undone.

Good luck. Life is all about changing and taking some chances. Little steps!

I've been using a Maybelline curler for decades. I get as close to the base as I can, grab the lashes, (not the eyelid skin...yea, I've done that many times...ouch!) and do a "bouncy" squeeze as I count to 10. repeat. If I don't curl, may lashes get lost no matter how curling the mascara claims it is... Since I don't remember a time I didn't curl my lashes, I can't say I loose my lashes any more from doing it.

I use one all the time. As long as you are gentle and careful you should be OK. I have occasionally tangled an eyelash, but never really yanked any out.

There are various styles of eyelash curler. if you don't like the traditional one this style (picture) is easy to use. I've seen them at Target and Julep sells them for $4.99.

I use my Shu Uemura nor the most. I have that one plus Cle de Peau, Shiseido, Chanel, and Le Metier de Beaute. The only one I purchased was the Shu Uemura. I always use one if I wear false eyelashes. No, I've never lost any eyelashes because of a lash curler.

I have used one for 35 years and never had an issue with lashes falling out. I also heat my curler with my hairdryer for several seconds to warm up the curler and help curl my lashes....which are short and if I didn't curl them the would barely show up while still using mascara. I envy those that have long lashes or naturally curly lashes.

I first curled my eyelashes when I was 15. I received compliments at school all day and never went 'uncurled' again. Without curling, it looks like I have no eyelashes so for me it's a no-brainer. It's been 50 years, so I can safely say that they're not falling out.

I just got one today. I haven't used one in many years. I usually try to just push up on my eyelashes with the brush when they're still wet. That does help but I saw one today and thought I'd try it.

I used to, but find that I always manage to pinch the corner of my eye no matter what brand or type of curler I use. I actually just use my finger to push up my lashes while the mascara is still wet. If I hold lashes up for about 30 seconds immediately after applying mascara, the "curl" lasts all day.
