If i color my roots should i add oil first ?

I thought I read this but I'm wondering if it would stop my hair from taking the color

I use to add a tbsp of argon oil to my color mixture and shake before applying. I do not think is hurt my color and I was coloring white growout. I quit coloring one year ago- but I colored for YEARS prior and added oil to the bottle and my color still took.

I WOULD NOT add oil directly to my dry hair prior to coloring.

I take my TT oil to my salon and my stylist adds a dropper to the color, it takes the harshness out of the color. Ni have been doing it for years now.

When I was coloring my hair, I put oil on my scalp before I colored my roots. It doesn't keep the color from working and it protected my scalp from getting irritated. I learned this from a stylist that worked in a salon that uses the same hair color as Chaz - they always did a scalp massage with an essential oil blend before the color. Unfortunately, the salon is a 4 hr round trip drive and the cost of a visit was over $300, so it was a very special treat.
