I am asking for opinions on Angel perfume. I know it is popular, and comes in body creme, powder, hair perfume, and shower gel. Thanks in advance.

Tissy, this one is love or hate, no gray area. I am in the hate category, it actually makes me nauseous.

Some men tend to love it. Has chocolate & caramel notes! I like it myself but rarely wear it.

My favorite fragrance since it's intro in early 90's. Love the body cream. Since it's been reformulated, it doesn't linger like the original, but I still love it. I wear the B/C and parfum. HTH

IMHO, the EDT, smells nothing like the Angel Fragrance. It's just off to my nose. The hair mist is OK, but it's definitely a watered down, weaker form, which it's intended to be.

Guess you will have to try it for yourself and decide.

It is very distinctive with definite sillage. Soft, and yet...something too heavy about it. Soft & heavy at the same time!? I did wear it occasionally, but then just couldn't stand it anymore. Maybe I would like it more in an EDT, instead of EDParfum.

But I'm hard to please anymore with fragrances. I cannot even tolerate the smell of most hand soaps.

Don't let that sway you, though. It's just been my experience. I couldn't say which notes stood out. Some say peach and melon fruity notes are in it...?

Notes:
Bergamot, Hedione, Helional, Honey, Dewberry, Red Berries, Vanilla, Caramel, Patchouli, Chocolate, Coumarin.

I used to love it, never received so many compliments. I wore the body lotion strategically placed because I can be heavy handed with sprays. I don't care for it any more, though, for some reason.

Have you smelled it?

Why do they always reformulate stuff? I know, ti cut costs. Maybe that's why I don't love it any more (or maybe it's just me). How is it different? Tough question, I know. :-0

MarenSeattle, all fragrances have been reformulated because of some legal issue, and yes, it definitely cuts the cost, but the customer won't get a discount.

It's not as strong, therefore, it doesn't linger like it once did, at least to me. Sigh...

I've tested it but didn't go for it. I checked out the notes on fragrantica.com, and man, they are all over the place. I don't think I've seen such a huge pyramid -- everything but the kitchen sink.

It is grouped as an Oriental Vanilla. And they can be wonderful, or they can be overpowering. If you want to try something more current than Angel in that same group, I recommend Prada Candy, which seems to get more respect for its blend, even from people who fancy themselves as connoisseurs who would never touch a note that was remotely reminiscent of anything sweet.

I wrote the following review for Prada Candy:

I picked up one of those fragrance samplers at Sephora that include a redeemable coupon for a free bottle of one of the fragrances included in the box. I picked a sampler of ten that had the most scents (three, to be exact) that appealed to me after smelling them on a paper strip in the store. I could not have been more mistaken as to what would be my final choice.

I forced my husband to be my helper and sniff each one on my skin. His usual response was either "meh" or "okay." Then I put on Prada Candy. Before I even asked him for his opinion, I was in love. I didn't say anything but just asked him once again to sniff. It's the one and only time I've seen him actually react with enthusiasm. He loved it.

I think this perfume is misnamed and might scare away people who might assume that it is a super sweet, juvenile scent. Candy is most definitely not one of those scents. It is a warm, alluring, very sophisticated perfume that just wraps around you and makes you feel good. It is NOT overpowering or overly sweet at all. From beginning spritz to dry-down, this scent remains light and lovely and lingers for a very long time.

Believe me, I have rarely strayed from my florals (pure floral, woody floral, fruity floral, you name it). If someone had told me that I would swoon over a musk/vanilla, caramel blend, I would have laughed in their face. But swoon I did. Prada Candy stands out as a unique scent in a world of fragrances that are often indistinguishable from one another.

Thank you to everyone. I actually bought this EDP in a container like a rollerball but it is a spray. This was a few years ago, and last night for some reason I sprayed it on my wrists and loved the scent. I agree that it is a caramel chocolate blend. I looked at Dillard's online, and they have a powder. I wanted opinions, and thank you all again for your thoughts.

I agree with the other ladies replying on this one. I think one either really loves it or hates it. However, for me, I've smelled it on other women and I really like it. But for me, no.

suzyq3, I was in our local Dillard's recently, and saw the Prada Candy. I will be sure to try it when I am in there again.The name is what caught my eye, because I like sweet scents.

When I wear Angel or Angel Innocence for that matter, it has to be a cold winter day or night, which is pretty rare in my neck of the woods, LOL! And then I use only a little dab out of my roll on bottle.

Full disclosure, mine is a dupe. I had a sample of the real deal once and my dupes from both Hayward Enterprise and Pittsburgh Street Soapworks smell identical to me. I currently only have roll on dupes of Angel and Angel Innocence (which I prefer because it is a tad lighter) from Hayward.

IMO, that is really the beginning and the end of the story. Nothing else matters but what YOU think about something that, IMO, is as personal as fragrance.

Sometimes I find myself trying to like a scent because others rave so much about it. Silly. And even sillier now that I understand that every perfume garners polar opposite comments.

One thing about Oriental vanillas in general, though -- although it's always a good idea not to overdo any perfume, I think it's especially important with this group, more so than, say, with a fragrance defined as "clean" or "fresh."
