Sephora is getting LIP IQ!!!!!!

I was in Sephora this past Thursday to get a Color IQ now that it is summer, and the SA told me that in about 30 days they are getting the same technology in Lip IQ...so you will now be able to get the perfect red, pink or coral (or whatever) for your skin and lip tone!!!! As one who has been on the quest for my perfect "old Hollywood" red, I am so happy!

What is Color IQ and Lip IQ? I'm assuming they do a color match but don't know how. I've heard this mentioned before and don't know.

They use a handheld machine/camera and take a photo against your forehead, cheek and neck. This then reads your undertones (yellow, red or neutral) and how fair your skin is. They then can tell you the perfect shade in every brand they sell for you. So you can decide, say Matte finish, liquid foundation, and they can tell you what shades and brands are best. The list can be emailed to you or stored in your Sephora profile.

You can also go online to their site and enter in the brand and shade you use, if you have something that you feel works for you, and it will give you your color ranking and other brand color recommendations.

lol, well they could never get the color IQ to work for me (got different results every time and none of them came up with even remotely close matches) so I doubt I will even bother with the lip IQ.

I don't really understand why they'd do a lip IQ anyway because most people just wear what they like and what they think flatters them. The foundation match thing is a great concept because it is more tricky and soooo many get the color wrong.

Thanks for the info. I'd love to try this because I never feel like I have the right shade of lipstick or gloss on. Can't wait!

I question the technology also. I tried at three different Sephora stores and got different readings each time. One SA said the shades I use were a better match than what the scanner came up with.

I was matched with the color IQ last summer and they said I was "warm with golden undertones" and they matched me with Hourglass Liquid foundation in Ivory. The color made my face look "ashy" and then when BE came out with their Bareskin foundation, I was matched at the BE boutique and THEY told me that I'm actually neutral with pink undertones. The Bareskin foundation in Bare Satin is dead on for me. I might try the Lip IQ just to see what they come up with because I haven't found a pink yet that I like.

Sorry Color IQ didn't work for some of you...it has worked very well for me. It was right on the money with both mid winter and now summer suggestions. I wear Kat VonD in the winter, and wanted both a lighter formulation and color adjustment now that summer is here.
