O/T Perception versus reality on how we look for our age..........

Ok this is kinda long but i thought it was kinda funny and eye opening at the same time.....

I was at the car wash yesterday and while I was waiting for my car to be finished I started speaking to a lady that was sitting outside with me, she was nice enough but kinda bragging about her job and her responsibilities etc.etc.etc.........I was kinda 1/2 tuning her out as people that brag continually just turn me totally off...I did however snap back to attention and could hardly keep my jaw from falling open when she turned to me and said this

'I am 40 but nobody believes me when i tell them how old i am"

ladies this woman looked about 15 years older than 40, now i know we all don't leave the the house looking like supermodels every day but this gal looked so haggard, her hair was a hot mess and her skin on her face was showing signs of sagging and she had some very pronounced sun damage and lines and wrinkles......she also was a plus sized gal and dressed like a bag lady.

Now before you all jump on me let me say this.....I am 41 and while i look good for my age no one is going to mistake me for a 20 year old..........on a good day i could maybe pass for 35-36 I am also a plus sized gal (size 16) and I have the thinnest crappiest hair in the world...........so i am no beauty queen.

I guess her comment got me thinking about how often i see ladies here claiming that they look years younger than they are........I know that some people are naturally young looking ( one of my friends is) but do you think our perception of ourselves is messed up versus the way others see us?

Sorry this is long and rambling but I am curious to see what you all think
