Which one? He has a few different models that are WOC. I just want to point out also that of course growth depends on how it's measured when you are referring to curly hair. You can gain a lot of length but it's lost in the curls lol.

Black hair typically grows a little slower and is more prone to breakage due to the helix. All human hair shares the basic chemical composition but we all differ a little from each other and black hair differs a little in distribution of lipids throughout the hair shaft. Typical African hair grows on average 256 micrometers a day while Caucasians typically grow 293 micrometers a day. The hair density is a little different too. African typically has 190 hairs per square centimeter while Caucasians typically have 227 hairs per square centimeter.

Some studies suggest the differences in hair types among races is linked to evolution. The study suggest it evolved as we moved. Africans hair protected them from the extremely harsh UV rays in Africa. All of us had this hair in the beginning and when we eventually moved to different climates and our bodies evolved to protect us for each climate. Asians typically have very straight hair. The helix and hair follicle evolved to protect us for our climates. This is only a study but it does make sense when you think about it.

African hair also has relatively flat cross section which lends it to being a little more prone to breakage.

Your explanation isn't completely true, Irshgrl, because it is a generalization. African-Americans have different types of hair just as Whites have different types of hair - from silky straight, to fine-soft to coarse hair. And hair that varies in rate of growth as well; just like any other race. Some African-Americans have hair that grows super fast to moderate to slow. Again, your explanation has some truth as a generalization and does not pass as a complete truth.

Black hair grows at the same rate as everyone else, about 1/2 in per month. As Jaxs said, the length is lost in the curl.

I am an African American woman and my hair is very long and grows very fast.

I am not bragging I am just saying that we all are different.

It can get dry and frizzy but even that has stopped because I use WEN.

Long and silky smooth.

I love Chaz!

I thought the afros were absolutely amazing!

Everyone's hair looked fantastic, as usual. However, I wish the models wouldn't preen for the cameras--they all do it, so they must be directed to be "interactive" or something. It's kind of embarrassing to watch, LOL. The lady with the gray hair was so twitchy she might have had a jug of coffee before she went on the air.

I think you mean Wendy. They have her wearing her hair natural and if you notice her before and after there is a real difference. I remember when she first started, I mean her first appearance. She's very sweet and her hair has transformed nicely. I like the other model of color, Katia. She's really pretty and her hair looks great. The model that is blown out, her hair is growing like really fast. I remember when she was pregnant. She is very pretty too. Well, I mean they are all really pretty anyway There's one model I don't see anymore. She had a really boxy shaped face but a pretty girl nonetheless. I haven't seen her in quite some time. I guess she has other obligations. I don't know all their names. The hosts get me crazy because I'm trying to hear what Chaz is saying and they are squawking all kinds of dumb stuff. (Sorry QVC) just venting. While watching the shows (saw 2) I just was smiling and smiling. I really enjoy them.

The model with the blown out hair is Alicia. (Figured that one out) and I think Toma is the one with the medium to short Fro'. (I think she cut it since last time. It looked shorter last night). I keep hearing the name Katia but I'm not sure who she is or, I'm mixing her up with Toma. I think Wendy is the new one with the curly hair, he was showing the ends of her hair that were kind of straight and funky (not the good funky but, the bad funky).

Wendy's smile makes me smile - her smile would light up a room! And you've got Wendy right - she's the one on which Chaz was showing the ends of her hair.

OK Toma's hair is shorter than Katia's. Both wear their hair natural but Katia's is much fuller. Usually Katia will swing her head back and forth and her beautiful hair just moves right along. She also usually dances a little in her chair - she's the cutest thing!

Glitz! When they showed the before and after of her hair, I almost burned dinner!

I'm about 5% gray. I didn't realize how yellow Pantene made my grays until I started Wenning. Now, they are brilliant!

LOL, her case of the frizzies WAS a bit much! She looked like she had been sitting in an electrical storm for several days, LOL. But the after was lovely. I agree that WEN is great for brightening up those silvers...
