I think HonnyBrown is natural and likes BGT. I am relaxed and found I didn't get much moisture from either WK or BGT. I mix WK Watermelon with POM to finish the bottle.

I am relatively new to Wen. I am African American and have been growing out my relaxer since Feb. I have been trying a variety of Wen CC over the past couple of months. So far I have tried SAM, FIG, TT, LAV, & POM. I loved the way the FIG made my hair look but not crazy about the smell. I prefer the smell of the LAV out of them all. All of the formulas have improved the look and texture of my hair so far. However, I think I am sensitive to the Menthol in these, as I am noticing some small bumps around my hairline and throughout the scalp. I was wondering if I may need to switch to BGT or kids formulas. I was hoping for some advice of any African American women that use either with success?

I'm relaxer free for 4yrs now and transitioned w/o a big chop over the course of 2 yrs. I used most all the formulas during that time (this was before Kid's or BGT was introduced). LAV ,IMO is much more drying for me than BGT or Wen Kids. They do not have the moisture that you get from FIG ,tho. If you feel that the menthol is bothering you, get the Strawberry Banana Kid's Formula....most moisturizing of the 3 options. I just ordered a gallon of BGT b/c I like it a lot, but I think it does have a bit of menthol in it.

Give yourself a hot oil treatment before you cleanse and that will help you to retain moisture on wash day. HTH

There are 2 children that are models for the Wen kids that are POC ( a boy and a girl), the boy has dreads and the girl has long hair, they use the Wen kids. By the way the BGT does have menthol in it.

If you want to use one of the Kid's formula, you will find that the Kid's Strawberry Banana is the most moisturizing. My husband likes the Fig but prefers the Kid's SB because it doesn't have menthol in it and he thinks the SB is more moisturizing than Fig. He has very coarse curly hair.

I have been transitioning since April of 2013 & use tea tree for my first cleanse, Pom for my second cleanse, & Wen kid's apple as my leave in. Like Naleiarenee, I found the lavender too drying for my hair. I might have to try the strawberry banana too since that is the most moisturizing-thanks for the tips girls!!

I have been relaxer free for almost a year. I tried the BGT when it first came out and had to return. It was too drying for my hair. I am a huge fan of TT and Fig. I have not tried the kids formulas yet so I can't offer advice on that. I hope that you find a solution that works for you.

Hi Diva! I'm fully natural and all Wen. My hair needs moisture and loves protein.

My Wen staples are Tea Tree (healthy scalp), 613 (protein) and Fig (moisture). With Fig, the moisture is worth the smell.

It took a few tries with BGT but it finally works so well for my hair. It gives me both protein and moisture and a 5 day wash and go!

I have not tried the BGT as yet but I do use the Wen Kids. I do not find it as moisturizing as the Fig, or the Seasonals (which work great in my hair). I use it as a first cleanse because I find that it cleans all of the gel, grease, and everything else out of my hair very well as I only wash either once or twice a week. I usually finish up with something really moisturizing.

Edit: I have very curly hair non-relaxed.

Thanks for this thread........I have been a Wen girl for many, many years now and relaxed and colored my hair and have been using Fig and 613......and recently began using Sweet Almond.......I am now transitioning and ordered the gallon size in Fig and Tea Tree....my daughters are natural and have been using Fig and 613......I also put it on auto delivery this time.

I would love a thread to discuss the many ways WOC use the Wen products as naturals and relaxed heads.

I have, I think, the same problem with breaking out. I believe mine was related to the Fig leaf extract (it can cause this problem). (I went overboard - heaping it on!) I have placed myself on a Fig break (eventhough, it is the most moisturizing for my hair). My skin has started clearing up. I don't know if it's the menthol for me.

I haven't tried the kids formulas, yet. So ,thank you everyone for the ideas. I was going to try them for my kids but, now I'll try them for myself!

I'm waiting for my first BGT.

Good luck.

BTW, natural for over 6 years, suffering from post-partum texture change and damage. Doing pretty well with WEN for 5 months.

Thanks for the feedback & suggestions. I am contemplating getting a gallon of the strawberry banana to try. If I don't care for it, my son has very loose naturally curly hair and he can use it too since he hates the smell of the core products.
