I started taking L-lysine supplements (500 mg. a day) for the shingles. Since nuts, chocolate, wheat and caffeine interfere with l-lysine, I have cut down on that stuff but am still consuming some.</P> <P>This is the only thing I have did differently since having the shingles and my face is almost totally clear! I read on the bottle it is a skin supplement so I did an Internet search and found out it works on acne AND cystic acne.</P> <P>You can overdose on it, so I don't take more than 500 mg, even though I think you can take more than that.</P> <P>I usually have about 3 or 4 and as one goes away, another one pops up. I'm down to one tiny one that is shrinking by the day and NO new ones.</P> <P>My skin is actually glowing.</P> <P>It is totally worth a try.</P> <P>I am so enthused that I did buy some multivitamins for hair, skin and nails to aid even more. However, my skin was clearing up BEFORE I bought these. If you buy a multi vitamin like this, be sure you get one without iodine. Some of them have iodine and that is a problem for some that are acne prone.
