Hi Kim, welcome. I don't actually use CA, because it is the most astringent of the formulas and it wouldn't suit my hair. It does benefit those with too much oil, where as the Spring Orange Blossom is probably more moisturizing, but has more protein. I assume you mean that you feel oily after Spring Orange Blossom? It's very individual, but you may not react the same to every seasonal, so try any that you think will have an appealing scent to you.

New Poster here so I don't know the abbreviations that well

I have been using for 2 months now. Bought it first from Sephora cause I didn't want to wait for it to be shipped to start trying it. Then ordered a bottle thru QVC when I started noticing the difference in my hair. Fell in love with it.

I am now going to order a gallon of it.

The reason for my post is I have used two different scents, Cucumber Aloe & Spring Orange Blossom. I have fair hair & scalp. Not to oily or dry. Is long and thick. I find that I like the Cucumber Aloe better than the Spring Orange Blossom. I find that I can go 2 days between cleanses with Cucumber where as with the Orange I would have to do it everyday it seems.

Anyone else prefer the Cucumber Aloe?

Hi Kim, I'm a huge fan if CA also. It's my favorite scent so far and works great on my oily scalp. The only cc that works better for my scalp is TT. I've tried SAM and love it also, but even though it makes my hair shiny and bouncy, I find it doesn't work for my scalp like CA does and I have to wash daily if I use it alone. I haven't had the pleasure of using any of the seasonals yet. I've been reading from other posters that after a few months, CA should normalize my oil production and I should be able to move on to other formulas. I can't wait! You might want to consider mixing formulas for the best results. I use the CA and TT on my scalp and SAM and 613 on the rest of my hair for best results. Good luck finding what works for you.

I have thin/fine hair and an naturally oily scalp (which Wen, especially the TT CC, has helped balance). I generally use TT for my first cleanse, rotating BGT and CA in occasionally. I use CA once in a while for it's clarifying properties (supposedly it has a more astringent cleanse). While some people have found CA drying for their hair, I haven't had that problem (unlike LAV which dries my hair).

Since you're so new to Wen I would caution against purchasing a gallon of a particular formula. This is just my opinion, but I think it's a better idea to work your way through smaller sized bottles of a number of the CCs before you commit to a gallon of any formula. If you wind up not liking it, it's going to take a lot of washing your hair to get through it.

I think a number of people (especially those new to Wen) feel the need to purchase a gallon of a particular CC because they think that the gallons provide the best overall value. And that's just not true.

The Wen TSVs (offered in March/April, August/September, and December) as well as some of the regularly offered QVC Wen discovery kits are quite cost competitive. If you use the added styling products, the TSVs actually are a better value than the gallons.

I've moved up the Wen TSVs going back to December 2009 -- items in TSV kits and prices and the Wen - Cleansing Conditioner Discovery Kits available at QVC threads. They each provide a cost benefit analysis between the TSVs, regularly offered discovery kits, and the gallons.

-- bebe

Welcome, KimP! I also love CA. I have a normal scalp and dry hair (also long and thick), but my hair does great with it. Most of the formulas aren't moisturizing enough for my hair, and it doesn't like the soy formulas (seasonals and Pomegranate). But with a combo of Fig and CA my hair is terrific

Welcome KimP!! I started with cucumber aloe (CA) when it first came out many years ago. It helped so much with my oily scalp. It may be that you have enough oil on your scalp that the CA works better for you. I agree with Serena - try using CA on your scalp and Spring Orange Blossom (SOB) on the middle and ends of your hair, especially your second cleanse.

I agree with everyone else - I would hate to see you get a gallon of CA now without having tried the other formulas. For one, your hair will change the more you use WEN because it does normalize your scalp and change your hair. By normalizing your scalp, I mean the essential oils cleanse your scalp and hair without stripping your natural oils so it never becomes over dry, causing your body to compensate by overproducing. CA may always be your go-to formula, but you may find another formula that you find mixes well with it for even better results.

Enjoy watching the shows in June - record if you can, they are all lessons

Hey, wanna buy my unused gallon? I have a spare but I find that Tea Tree does better for cleansing my scalp. Cucumber Aloe is my second fave. I don't like Pomegranate and I found Almond Mint was ok.

So I'm stuck with a spare gallon of Cucumber because my next gallon order is going to be Tea Tree. I guess we all just find ONE that simply works best for our individual type of hair.

My favorite cleanser used to be SAM but I've recently been using a mixture of Cucumber Aloe and a seasonal and it is great! I feel like my hair is cleaner and silkier at the same time. My hair is also long and thick but has a thin texture that will collect oil at the scalp. I love the convenience of the gallon pumps so I just bought gallons in Cucumber Aloe and the kids Strawberry Banana. I have a few gallons from prior years that I refill now with the TSVs. To be honest though, I've never had a formula not "work" for me. I like some more than others but no formula would ever be a waste for me. If you want to be sure about your formula choice, I would suggest getting a few of the small bottles or travel packets and spend a week testing the formulas. Last year I don't think the gallon formulas sold out as quickly as in past years, but there is no guarantee. Happy wenning!
