For me, the key is to put the sc in soaking wet hair and really scrunch and twist to work it into my hair. I twist my hair and make sure I work it into the ends well. By the time I get it worked in, there's no extra for my drying cloth to soak up.

My gallon and my SHP were delivered today, but I hadn't opened them until I read your question. Reading from the booklet that came with them, the 4-8 pumps of Styling Creme, is for people with coarse, ethnic, or curly hair. If you like what you're doing, stick with it. If that kind of hair describes yours, try a little more SC and see if you like it. If you do, fine. If you don't, then don't do it again. Everyone eventually finds their own way with the styling products.

I guess im not quite sure what my hair type would be. If I didn't color it Im sure it would be all gray so in that way I guess its course and its naturally curly but ive been struggling with thinning as well. *I was just shocked it said so much I guess Ill try it and see. I hadn't really noticed the Sc doing much of anything . Maybe I needed more who knows.

On 5/27/2014 mom4321 said:
Do you apply your Styling cream in the shower and let the towel soak some of it up or after you towel dry ?

Everyone does it different so just experiment with it to see what works best for you. I initially did not like the SC- it didn't seem to do much for me- but once I figured out how best to use it for me, I liked it better. For me, it works best if I apply it in the shower, after I squeeze a little bit of the water out (damp, but not soaking wet) and I only use one pump (about a nickle size amount??) for my hair, which is long (past my bra).

It has taken me years to finally get styling cream working for me. I have short hair and I had to really figure out how to squeeze it into the little ends without coating my entire head. I use a pea size amount.

When I started using using the CC/SC leave in. I used half a pump of CC (from a 16oz. bottle) and then 1/2 pump of SC. These days I sometimes use a whole pump of SC. I have thin/fine, shoulder length hair.

-- bebe

it can be right! if i only used one to two pumps of sc, it would be a total waste. i need a minimum of 4. when i first figured that out i was like WHOA! now i get the fuss about styling crème! but 6 isn't mandatory, for sure. play around with the amount to figure out whatever works best for you.

I have fairly long hair but still don't need to use 6 pumps of SC. I agree with all of the others that you should use what works for you. 6 pumps is probably too much for your hair and would be for many of us unless you have extremely long, thick hair.

You know what, HappyDaze? You is okay! Just kidding. Your post is very good. I go with whatever works for you. I think what she is seeing is the old tutorials. They have the girl in the shower and she puts one pump on one side and another on the other side and her hair is only a few inches below the shoulders so I think that's too much. My husband has very dry coarse hair and too much styling creme can even make his hair weighed down. I have hair below my shoulder blades and I only use one pump. I use a bit extra on the ends but since I tried the peach replenishing spray, I don't need extra on the ends. This particular spritzer is very hydrating more so than the others, for me.
