I used the Epilady way back in high school. It's not painless, but it works. You get to a point where the hair just comes in very much thinner per hair. I did my arms several times back then and even now it is so light on my arms, it is not bothersome to me at all.

Epilady Coil System Epilator

First, let me mention if it hasn't already been posted here that Hautelook is having a sale on epilators and some other products by Epilady. Sale ends 6 AM Tuesday.

I was considering this Epilady Esthetic Facial Epilator which is a coil system epilator. I wondered if anyone here has used this type (coil) and if you liked, hated, or somewhere in between? And does it work? They mention the Esthetics line has been their most popular since their Legend line.

They have an Epilady Legend 4 Epilator which looks good for all over while the coil one looks designed more for sensitive areas like face and such.

They have 2 additional items which look interesting:

Dr. Splendid MagiMist Atomizer - this really does interest me because it delivers the finest possible mist into the skin (in nano form) using either mineral or distilled water and due to the nano size, the water really absorbs into the skin, not on it. Won't disturb makeup in any way. I could use this all day long with my dry skin and dry climate. I have seen them on ebay as there are many sellers from China and elsewhere in the Far East who are selling them but I like the way this Dr Splendid atomizer works and it has a 90 day warranty which is at least something. It's part of a newer technology focused on deeper skin absorption.

MagiMist Buffer Vibrating Makeup Applicator - designed to give an air brushed finish and can be used with every type of foundation from liquids to mousses to powders. You place it very gently on the skin and use in circular motions and apparently will not smudge or disturb any makeup already on the skin.

I know I've asked about multiple items but figured if anyone had tried any of these, it was just easier to keep it all in one place. I am probably going to get the MagiMist as I have been debating one on ebay for while and while this is just a tad more, it's also by a reputable company. And my skin will really benefit from a gadget like this for moisture and hydration. Seems the Far East is often ahead of us in new skin products and technologies. That where the first BB originated. and think derma rolling was re-introduced there (was used long ago and they revived it)

My sincere thanks for anyone with opinions, feedback or whatever - really appreciate it!

If the Epilady is the one from many years ago then that sucker hurt. Hopefully it is better than when it first came out. Also I use a battery operated epilator on my face so I know I can take some pain but the one with coils was not the best thing I ever bought.

My advice is to stay away from the coil type. Hurts like crazy! That coil type is the original design that we used to call a ""yank-o-lator"".

The tweezer style epilators are much better and less painful. Check out Emjoi.

I have been epilating my legs for years, maybe 10? More than 5 for sure! I barely need to epilate, my hair is very fine and grows back sparsely and finely. However, even after 10ish years, I still feel it a bit. I finally got brave enough to do my underarms in the last year. Almost hit the ceiling but I did a bit at a time and after a few months, could finally do my entire underarm in one session.

As a seasoned epilator, I can't imagine using the coil kind. I hear they hurt like heck.

I tried the coil once and it was awful. I purchased an epilator from Amazon, for the face, for approximately 20 and free shipping. it hurts too but not that badly and your hair grows back much more slowly. I use it on my chin and those straggly strays on my neck

On 5/25/2014 Andreatoo said: I tried the coil once and it was awful. I purchased an epilator from Amazon, for the face, for approximately 20 and free shipping. it hurts too but not that badly and your hair grows back much more slowly. I use it on my chin and those straggly strays on my neck

Do you recall the brand you bought ? And you think it works pretty well? Once betteb mentioned Emjoi, it hit me that I have read a lot more about Emjoi's than Epilady's. I can see from the top of the 2 coil epilators (on Hautelook) that they would hurt. One is a triple coil epilator which would even be worse. Ouch

I keep thinking that I'd really benefit from using an epilator then I vacillate back and forth again. I had the latest Emjoi sold here on waitlist around this time last year and after a few months, I just decided to cancel it. Got tired of waiting and was still going back and forth if I wanted one.

Has anyone used the same epilator on both their body and face? The Legends 4 I listed above is recommended for the whole body, from head to toe, and I would prefer to have one that could do both areas.

Last question - you know that really fine peach fuzz so many of us get on the sides of the face? Would an epilator remove those fuzzies? They claim that they now remove even the most minute hair growth but that hair/peach fuzz is also so fine that I was curious if anyone has ever had any luck using any kind of epilator successfully there~

Sincere thanks, ladies, and gratitude for sharing your opinions and thoughts. It really does help. Think I will just stick to the MagiMist from the Hautelook items and look for well rated Emjoi's. If you have any suggestions on a body and face Emjoi, would welcome any details~

betteb ............. I just reviewed your post and realized that I read it incorrectly the first time because I thought you said you didn't like the tweezers type either (sometimes reading too fast isn't a good idea.) I see now that you wrote the opposite and among the Epilady selections, there is a tweezers model listed. Thanks~

I have one only for the face and it gets the peach fuzz. Peach fuzz is pretty pain free. The thicker facial hairs are like being tweezed but after awhile it doesn't hurt anymore. I have had a cheap battery operated one for years and I love it so much I have a back up in case it breaks.
