Tria replacement....

Hi Tria gals!!! You all know that I received my Tria replacement around 2 weeks ago and it is much hotter than my original. Anyway, after I used it last night, I charged it and the blue light was blinking, indicating being charged. Well I fell asleep and this bright light woke me up. My Tria was blinking this bright light, off and on like the blue, but bright. I thought someone was standing next to me with a flash light. I unplugged it and put it in another outlet and the same thing was happening. So I unplugged it and just put it in the kitchen outlet now and it is blinking normal blue. Something is probably wrong with this Tria now. The first one I had never did that, but it just wasn't hot. Now I am scared that I may have to get another replacement and I was planning on doing another week or two additional.

Has anyone had a problem like this with theirs?? I can't call Tria until Tuesday because of the holiday weekend. But I will call QVC and tell them to make a note of what happened to this one in case I have to make another return. The blue light has already gone out meaning it is fully charged. It scared me because I thought maybe it could cause a fire and now I am nervous about leaving it plugged in all the time. And are we supposed to leave it plugged in the entire time we don't use it?? And last night it felt very hot using it! I know I have to add on extra weeks!!!

Wow snowball, I really feel for you. It just doesn't seem fair that you are now having trouble with the replacement. Tria needs to get their act together and make sure they are shipping out ONLY first rate, fully functioning, dependable laser units. What yours was doing last night sounds really odd and I would also have concerns about leaving it plugged in all night when it is acting like this. Maybe someone else who might have had the same issue will respond later in the day and either set your mind at ease (or not )

I did think adding an additional week in your case was warranted but I am guessing at this point, you might potentially be looking at another break in the 8 week protocol which just isn't fair. I'm going to be optimistic that this was just an odd fluke that won't occur again and you can get your additional week in now, not having to request yet another replacement.

I give you credit for hanging in there as you have. Others might have just shipped it back altogether. I'm also most hopeful that your results will be outstanding, making all this hassle worth the time and effort you've obviously put into it. Then, at least, you can happily justify tolerating all the added aggravation!!!

Hi wackers, Thanks for your comment.

I contacted the Tria customer service this morning and talked with a guy named Chris. I thought they were closed, but they weren't. Anyway he said that he has never heard of this happening and asked me where the light was coming from. I honestly couldn't tell him where because I was so scared. He told me that if it happens again for me to take a picture of it so they can see exactly what is going on. He also said it could have been a fluke.

I really don't want to get another replacement because this Tria gets hot and I like that. Like I said before, I charged it this morning and everything seems to be okay, but last night that bright light blinking had me scared. So I am hoping that it doesn't happen again because I certainly don't want to stop now that I am near the end.

Snowball, I sure can't blame you for not wanting to have to replace yet another unit. You are so close to the finish line that it would be a shame to not reach it. And it really could be a fluke. I have a Clairsonic and when it about a year old, I started having a lot of problems getting it to charge. I was still under warranty so knew I could ship back for a replacement but decided to just hang in there a bit and juggle the position I charged it in (upside down, sideways, etc) Well, after a few annoying weeks, it seemed to settle back down and has been working fine ever since (18 months later)

So the possibility of it being a total fluke really is possible. Maybe it was just an odd incident with using a different outlet and it will never occur again. I'm guessing it is worth it at this point to at least wait a bit and see.

Keeping my fingers (and toes ) crossed that it was a one time thing and all will be problem free from hereon out. I think you more than deserve that to be the case!!

I was going to ask where the light was coming from, too. My original one would keep blinking…. but it was the blue on the on/off switch. My unit definitely wasn't working. The new one seems to be okay… so far!

I hope this was just a fluke, and that it's working properly AND working its miracles!

Yikes! How scary -- and aggravating! What is Tria's problem? First sending out all the glitzy plugs, then having units heat so hot (Lynn's), not heat up enough (yours). And there were other problems, too. Having been on the market for at least a year before the US launch, why so many bugs? Sorry, venting.

I looked at mine and there's only a few places where the light could be coming FROM. But why? Did your light stop blinking when plugged into the kitchen outlet? I am so sorry you're going through yet more hassle. Sigh. Looking forward to an update!!

Hi snowball. My Tria blinks blue when it is being charged and then I believe it goes to solid blue and then when I take it off the charger it briefly lights the level that I am currently using. Being on level 3 I have to charge it up about almost every other day. My blue light comes from the battery indicator. Its not an all night thing though. When I charge it it's on the other side of the room from where I sleep so I think that's why it doesn't disturb me. It doesn't really sound like your machine's broken.

Hi Snowball. Unbelievable that you may have another bad unit. Makes me wonder if the hotness you describe is normal, too. On one of these threads someone posted about their Tria not turning off, and she faced it toward the wall until the battery ran out. I wonder if this is a similar issue.

Hi Tria gals!!!! I used it last night and I shut the bathroom light off, and it was definitely not the pink light that I saw. It had to have come from the blue battery indicator light. The flash of light that I saw was coming from the top and it was intermittent, like the battery blue light blinks. Since I have it on the bedroom floor, it looked like someone was using a flashlight coming in through the door, higher than the doorknob. At first I thought someone was in our driveway with their car headlights on, shining through the other bedroom. Really scared me!!

I had no problem with it last night and I have it in the charger still. My Tria is HOT!! I get red as soon as I do one pass, but I love it. I have to do another week or so because my other one was nothing like this. Are all of yours this hot?? I don't remember hearing that lyn's was too hot!!!

njoylife, I know about the blue indicator light and the blinking and how it stops when it is charged. What I saw was a bright blinking light, not that little baby blue light that blinks on the unit, which never disturbs me. This did!!! I do think something with that battery light indicator went haywire.

maren and krissie622, thanks!! When the blinking was happening, I charged it in the bathroom then and it still was showing the bright light. The next morning I charged it in the kitchen and everything seemed to be ok. It is back in the bedroom now. Hope everything will be ok now. Tomorrow night would have been my last night!!! I have to go another 2 weeks or so. What would you gals do??

Snowball -- I THINK it was Lynn's that got too hot, she got a replacement. At times I wonder if mine is getting hotter but not all the time, so it just could be me. I think we may be hyper cautious because of all the problems we've been hearing about -- or I am, anyway. Is it too hot? Is it hot enough? Is my battery taking longer to charge? Stuff like that -- it's like I'm not really CONFIDENT of the device. I didn't have those concerns about my NuFace or LightStim -- just this darn thing. I'm thinking we'd KNOW if it was heating up to the ALERT! level. Man, I just love this thing and I'm so disappointed that it's been so glitchy for so many. Kind of shadows the experience for me.

I'd definitely go the extra week if I'd had to skip one, and then see how my skin looked and felt after that to determine if extra time was warranted. I'm going to go at LEAST one extra day since I skipped one at the beginning, and am thinking I may go just a couple of days longer than that to finish on May 31 and begin my Renewal (!) the 1st of June. Purely psychological. :-)
