I'm 55 and the jowls are starting to sag. Saw on u-tube that it you gently hit your face with the back of your hands this helps to bring blood to that area, stimulate it and lessens the amount of sag.

Help...have any of you tried anything that worked for you for sagging jowls that is not too expensive? Thank you.

Seriously hutchill, nothing will permanently help with sagging jowls but a face lift. Gravity is hard to overcome and anything less than surgery, is not going to last or be that rewarding.

That's the cold, hard truth - no over the counter product or wishful thinking will help.

I was hoping someone would try it out, and report back on how it worked.

Seriously, I have the same problem. Retinol is helping with some wrinkles, but doing nothing for the sagging. Sigh.....

There are new (and ever newer) laser treatments such as Thermage that tighten skin but like most procedures that actually work, there are tradeoffs; in this case, pain, cost, and down time.

It costs nothing, or little, to go see a dermatologist and weigh your options!

My friends always say, the best thing about aging is that we are all going through it together! Whenever I see the life something or other commercial where the before picture, everyone looks a hundred years old and magically they now look 35, I wonder what that would be like. The problem is, some of those models don' t look normal or even good after the procedure and that keeps me away. We call the Botox group "Apple heads". So many ladies are overdoing it a bit and also start looking odd. When done within reason, fillers like botox and the others can make you look really nice. Key is never overdo it! Also get a trusted specialist.

gravity wins every time! lose of muscle tone over time plus gravity equals everything headed downhill. face lift is the only fix. I saw my plastic surgeon last week for my injections in my smile lines and told him I was seriously considering the face lift option. I am 66 and jowls headed south. He was kind enough to say that he didn't think I was ready for it yet but I did find out that total cost would be about $12,000 for his fee, surgery center fee and anethesiologist.

I was catching up on Revenge today and marveling at how wonderful Madeleine Stowe looks at 55. So, I googled "Madeleine Stowe beauty tips," and found an article where she said she has had no plastic surgery but does facial exercises. Then I started looking at facial exercise on You Tube.

It makes sense that you should work out your face and isn't that what the NuFace does? Apparently the Japanese are into this and they take such good care of their skin. There are all kinds of videos on You Tube.

The only thing I do now is try to smile as much as possible when I am just sitting around on the computer or watching tv. Like now.

On 5/18/2014 BLB said: I don't know for sure what the Lifestyle Lift is. If anyone knows what the Lifestyle Lift is, please let us know.

Well it is something like that. My PS has had patients come in to have the Lifestyle Lift corrected. They make small incisions in the front of the ear and insert a very thin wire (think barbed wire with razor sharp prongs)into the incision and along the jaw line, then pull the wire back, toward the ear. The sharp prongs "grab" onto muscle and pull it tighter. Then they sew that wire in place by the ear. The wire stays inside you. The problem is (you can Goggle this, there are many lawsuits) sometimes one side grabs better than the other so you end up lopsided. Sometimes that wire breaks and one side drops or the wire pokes through the skin.!!!! Please don't do this lift. If you want to have your jaw line lifted (and no creams or exercises can do that, only surgery) get a lower face lift from a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. It may be a little bit more, but it will be done right and you will be soooooo happy. One of the best decisions I have made
