Monistat Anti Chafing Gel Powder -- for Primer.

I may be late to the party, because I'm finding zillions of rave reviews on this. It's been compared to Smashbox primer which is what I was considering trying.

Has anyone used this as a primer? (You don't need to share if you've used it for anything else. )

This reminds me of they days when we used K-Y Jelly for hair gel and Preparation H to tighten up our under-eyes.

Very interested to hear if you've had experience with this. I apologize if this has been discussed to death.

I have used it as a primer. Works great and is a lot cheaper than primers. I buy it at Wal-Mart for around $5 and can usually find a coupon online for $1 off. I still use other primers too but this is definitely a good one.

I tried it. I personally hated it. It clogged my pores terribly. It feels weird. Dry yet oily. It reminds me of the new Cover Girl TruMagic. It made me look really oily but the worst part was the clogged pores.

You really do not need to delete the thread. If you are just learning about it and/or reading up on it then there are very likely others here doing the same. We have new people checking out the BB all the time even if just for reading the threads. It will help anyone who hasn't heard about it.

I only tried it once and it was okay. I thought it felt more like a film than Smashbox's primer but that was just my experience. I know many women swear by it. And once more primers came out, I realized I benefitted much more from a hydrating primer due to my very dry skin.

A bit co-incidental that you did a thread on it today as I was watching a commercial for Monistat late last night and I started thinking about whatever prompted that original person to ever think of trying Monistat on her face as a primer. It just seems so far-fetched in a way to make the leap from it's intended use to then thinking "wow, this would be a great primer for my face" Stuff like that always fascinates me - how or why did someone decide to use something in a completely unexpected way or even more, how or why some get the idea to invent certain things (relating more to unusual items)

It's not the actual items themselves that fascinates but rather how interesting people's minds work. That has always been of interest to me.

I've used the Monistat with very good results. You certainly can't beat the price/value. Wanting to experiment a little, I tried the IT Feel the Moment and the IT No. 50. I didn't like the Feel the Moment at all, but am currently using the No. 50 and like it a lot.

I tried it but didn't like how it felt. To be honest though I am not a big fan of primers and I am still looking for the HG. I had YSL and really liked it but they don't have it anymore. I have the new It one and I do not like it. I try using it up on my neck.

Hi, JLF! I am so with you on this. I thought the Feel the Moment was thick and viscous, and I hated the many botanicals it contained. I tried it first on the back of my hand. Hated it so much, it never made it to my face. Had to immediately wash my hands.

I do use #50 sometimes. But my HG was MAKEUP FOREVER. I recently bought one from Hourglass and another from Cargo. Cargo contains NO SILICONES! I like these 2 so far.

AMAZING how much I'm learning on this forum! Got some spackle primer sample in a beauty box and had to Google it. Tried it and was pleasantly surprised with the results. Who knew other things worked!

I'm with Wackers though, can't imagine how someone thought to use Monostat for that purpose.

It's pure silicone, I found that it works but is a little too greasy. Funny, I tried several years ago when it first started being used as primer, it was very cheap back then. I think they raised the price when it became popular!

Just make sure you get the 'anti chafing gel' which has no actives--not the one for yeast infections!

I've been using IT's #50 too and like it a lot. It seems to keep my skin from losing all it's moisture throughout the day. I have used Defining Moments by Wei East on and off for a few years and really enjoy that too. It is similar to #50 but not quite as thick. It was definitely one of the first real cream primers as she came out with that probably 10 years ago now.

For those who have tried IT's Feel the Moment - would you say that it is more suited for really dry skin users or normal to combo skin? I was curious why Jamie came out with 2 new primers within such a short period of time so wondered if they are targeted to different skin types.

I guess some checked the ingredients and it was very similar to the Smashbox primers. I have used the Monistat for a primer and it does work. Right now I'm using Mally's primer though.
