O/T Q Card Pros and Cons

I placed an order and a pop up for a Q Card and $20 off showed. I declined it until I research it further.

What are your opinions on it, good, bad and indifferent?

I applied for it a lllooooonnnnggggg time ago when they offered special financing or no tax on tax day just for using the QCard. Since they don't offer any of those anymore, I don't have any incentive to use it. With that said, I use it once every 6 months on a very small amount just so I can keep the account active as closing it would affect my credit rating.

Very high interest rate so I say con as opposed to a pro. Others might say it is nice that the bill is itemized with item numbers of whatever you purchase.

@Dell, I avoid interest whenever possible and credit cards are an easy one. That won't be an issue for me.

Not that I know of. They haven't offered ANYTHING for years now. That's why I only use it once every 6 months to keep my QCard account active. For me, there is absolutely no incentive at all to have or use it. I use my Discover card to purchase here so I can get 5% cashback bonus. Using the QCard you get absolutely nada.

I try to avoid credit cards, especially specialty cards. They usually come with high interest rates and offer few benefits. I think I'm better off using one card and getting cash back or points on there.

Here's what you get with a Q-Card:

None of that is very important to me because I don't think those special sales and promotions would be very good.

II prefer having a Q card for the simple reason it's much easier to follow my purchases as they list everything. Before it was a nightmare because only the charge would show up on my MC. You also get extra easy pay offers Throughout the year I believe. I've had mine for over five years but I pay the balance every month so I don't accrue interest.

That was true years ago when I got mine; however, that hasn't been the case in many years. I use mine once a year to keep it active.

I do use mine, to keep all my purchases together on one card and keep my spending small, since I know I have to pay it in full every month. No way would I pay the high interest they charge.

If I didn't have it, I wouldn't bother to get one though, there's really no benefit.

I had one for several years. I liked having all my Q purchases on one statement. However, there were no other real benefits as far as I'm concerned. I prefer using my other card that gives me cash back points.

I looked at it last year and almost got it, but it just provides me another route to debt at higher interest. I keep track of my purchases on a spreadsheet, and if I make a decision to charge rather than use my debit, I can do it at lower interest.

That was my conclusion, too, after looking at this a while back. I'd rather use another card with points back and track my purchases via other means.

Your entire purchase history is available on your order status page. The best thing I ever did was get rid of all credit cards. If one is totally disciplined and pays off the balance monthly, the cash back feature is nice. Otherwise, you are still paying more in interest than you are getting back.

I'm very disciplined when it comes to credit cards. Interest is not an issue for me.

At the same time, Wen is the only thing I buy from Q, and that's when GR doesn't have something Wen available. On top of that, I check eBay and Amazon before Q because of their prices and availability.

Saving $20 on one product and getting advance peeks (not ordering) at TSVs makes me say NAH!

I had one for years. used it and paid it in full every month because the interest rate was outrageous. I closed it over a year ago when I found out that a lot of ""retail credit cards"" from stores showing on your credit report has a negative impact on your credit score. they were not giving me any benefits for keeping their card so I cancelled it.

Hubby and I are buying a house. In that process, a mortgage dude was very adamant about me not closing a credit card that I had forgotten about. He said that it would negatively affect my score.

I don't know if the same applies to retail cards. Nordstroms has been calling my name for a while.
