Has anyone bought a wig online? I recently got a pixie cut, and regret it. Can anyone suggest a safe site, that sells realistic looking wigs? Thank you so much!

I've purchased from thewigs.com. At the top of the website is a list of discount codes. What I've done is gone into a wig store to find the right style and color. Then I search online for the best price. Also, I have purchased wigs on ebay.

I'm going thru chemo and purchased my wig at a wig store. The blonde ones can be tricky as far a being natural looking. Found a lovely synthetic one that people say "knocked 25 years off my age" . If your hair is darker, there seems to be endless choices. I see really nice ones by Gabor and by Vogue on websites but fear the blonde shades will look like doll hair. Trying them on in person, you'll find styles you wouldn't think would work.

I wear wigs and I'll say this....very few to no wigs come perfect from the vendor.. I have had to learn a lot of techniques from people online. Many are too shiney, need to be cut and thinned out, need to be put on an angle, etc.

Also, I learned a lot from other cultures who might wear wigs so please venture on different message boards. Here is a link for a video that helped me...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pDqrZ6rgJk

Also here is a Tip that has helped me greatly. First this is for synthetic wigs only; not human hair wigs.

Shiney wigs....

Sometimes you try on a wig and it is too shiney, you can tone is down with solid deodorant, but you are rubbling very little down the weft of the hair and using the palm of your hand, rubbing the hair in a left to right motion and the shine is gone.

Many people use flour but too me, you have no control of the amount because each time you put your hand in the flour you pull out a different amount so ....some place in the hair is dull, other places is shiney.

Always attempt to tone down the shine in your wigs because a wig that looks GREAT in the house, can look like PLASTIC in the bright sun when you are outside

I have a Paula Young wig, memory. I think it cost $69 or $79. It's short, layered, not shiny. I couldn't get along without it. It's so great to have something to wear when you've got to get out and hair needs fixing.

My wig passed the ultimate test Monday. I stopped in the Hair Cuttery with my wig on to get my hair cut. I sat down in the chair, and the stylist was shocked when she saw me remove my wig. She really really did not know I was wearing a wig.

The trick is to not to have too much hair in your wig. Also, have it sort of messy looking.

A long time ago I bought a J. Smith wig. I had many compliments on my "hair." I would just say thank you. I always felt I should tell, but didn't want to go all through that.

It was a bad time, but I was glad to have those wigs. You can always have them trimmed at a salon to suit you.
